Inviting Big Cottage, near Mold (FL015WA)

This luxury detached converted coach house provides a very special holiday retreat. Situated within the 100 acre Pentrehobyn Estate, The Property has completed a full programme of refurbishment and has many luxury and designer touches. It sleeps eight people but the stunning double height Grand Atrium, an impressive galleried room with a vaulted ceiling, creates a wonderful feature lounge and is also ideal for hosting a larger numbers of guests for special events such as birthday and wedding celebrations. Double doors from here open into the large walled garden, a perfect retreat, and also ideal for a marquee if required (additional costs apply). The market town of Mold is 1 mile away, Chester 16 miles, Llangollen 17 miles and Liverpool 23 miles.

The focal point of The Property is the huge Grand Atrium, and from this the property is split into two sides, with the lounge, small kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom on one side, and the large family kitchen, dining room and a further two en suite bedrooms on the other side. This makes it ideal for larger mixed groups or families.

Leading from the atrium is the spacious lounge which has a large log burning stove, comfortable armchairs and sofas, a flatscreen TV with HD receiver, DVD and stereo CD player with iPod dock. Also to this side of the property is a small kitchen and ground floor cloakroom. A large oak open staircase leads up to the two delightful bedrooms, one with a sofa and chair and both with super king size beds which can be split into singles if preferred. There is a smart family bathroom with shower over the bath, basin and WC.

Leading from the other side of the atrium is a light and airy dining room with a large wooden table and chairs for 8 with attractive views across the walled garden. The large kitchen, a real feature of the property and a chef's delight, is equipped to the highest standard with hand painted wooden cabinets, limestone flooring, oven, hob, dishwasher, microwave, American fridge/freezer and a separate utility room houses another dishwasher, a washing machine and a tumble dryer. A stone staircase leads from the atrium to two en suite bedrooms, again both with super king size beds that can be split into singles and each with unusual round windows with views over the walled garden and surrounding countryside.

The Property has the benefit of a beautiful and fully enclosed walled garden with a large lawn ideal for croquet and ball games. There is plenty of parking to the front of the property. Guests can also enjoy the full-size table tennis. Please see 'Local Area' for further details of the surrounding area and of optional activities available.

LocationMold

Located close to the English/Welsh border, this is a bustling historic town with weekly markets taking place and home to the impressive medieval church of St Mary. The town library displays many Bronze Age artefacts which were discovered locally, and the centre piece of the town is the Norman motte and bailey castle. The formal park is a lovely spot for a picnic, and the Theatr Clwyd has a variety of drama shows, music and dance productions.

Just a short drive from the town is Alyn Waters Country Park, with marked walks through woodland and along the river. There is also a visitor centre with information on the history and wildlife of the park, on the Llay side is a nature reserve ideal for family groups with a programme of activities and events for children. The ancient pilgrimage site of St Winefrides Well is also worth a visit.

There are plenty of lovely walks to choose from in the surrounding area, the Nant Mill visitor centre is situated in the Clywedog Valley and North Wales is also home to the famous Pilgrims Way and the Clyydian Range so this is a perfect area to visit for walkers who enjoy coastal paths and countryside strolls. Greenfield Valley Park is a great family day out, there are interesting farming displays and vintage machinery as well as a blacksmith forge. Also an outdoor play area, maze and farm animals.

North Wales

North Wales showcases some of the UK's most varied landscape, from the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia to the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. Indeed, it is one of the only parts of Britain where you can be in the mountains in the morning and at the seaside by the afternoon. The diverse animal life of the region reflects this, with everything from otters to ospreys and seals to dolphins.

Not many places are imbued with such history and heritage, which is reflected throughout the region from cottages to castles! Attractions abound, with zoos and farms, steam railways and activity centres. There are regular events from international cultural festivals and shows to family fun days.

The area also offers a huge range of outdoor activities; walking, cycling, fishing, golf and water-sports to name only a few. In many parts of North Wales the spoken language is Welsh, not English, although people who cannot or will not speak the latter are rare, and signposts and other notices always display their message in both languages.
