Reception Rooms
Through the front door you’ll find yourself walking into a smart, well-lit entrance hall with wood polished floors, a comfortable leather armchair and heavy oak sidetable, overlooked on either side by family portraits old and new.
The hall leads into a large, light filled drawing room, with open fire, well upholstered furniture, antique bookshelves and a grand piano. With views of the gardens at both the front and side of the house this room is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink, particularly in the afternoon when the sun streams through the windows.
There are two further sitting rooms, more contemporary in style, but equally comfortable. These are keen favourites with the children on the basis there’s access to a TV in both, but one in particular lends itself to being more of a playroom with its assorted games, toys and books, SKY TV, Nintendo Wii and suite of DVD’s.
Central heating and hot water is available 24 hours a day from our bio-mass boiler system. The house is always invitingly warm, and the hot water piping.
Wifi is available in the main part of the downstairs of the house. Please bear in mind that this is a rural area and the owners are unable to get super-fast broadband. There is a pay-phone available for guest use in the house. Mobile network signals are improving in the area, with Vodafone and O2 seeming to be the best.
Kitchen & Dining
The formal dining room is wide and long. It’s a classic contemporary space with polished wooden floors and mahogany dining table with matching chairs, seating up to 20 guests.
The kitchen is clearly the hub of the house, very generously proportioned with a large breakfast table with built in seating in one corner of the room (seats 12), plenty of surface space for preparing meals as well as a neat galley style mezzanine (up two steps) with plenty of additional storage and work tops (including a second sink). Clearly a lot of thought has been put into the facilities provided in this room and given the owners include a professionally trained chef, it could be argued it’s one of the best used rooms in the house.
If you were thinking of upgrading your self-catering experience, the owners would be only too delighted to provide a variety of meal options as extra, if requested at the time of booking.
Facilities
Aga (2 oven), electric double oven, 4 ring ceramic hob, 3x fridge, freezer, 2x dishwasher, microwave, ice machine, kitchen table to seat 12.
The owners aim to provide a good basic larder with kitchen essentials such as sugar, flour, tea, coffee, oils, vinegar, spices, salt & pepper, cling film, foil, baking paper, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, cloths and scourers.
