Inviting Holiday Home, near Bude (THEFARCO)

Set in 50 acres of unspoilt countryside, woodland and meadows, Gooseham Barton Farm and Cottages offers an idyllic spot to relax and unwind. Especially perfect for the equestrian enthusiast from the most experienced to the absolute beginner, the farm has been a licensed riding stables since 1974 with around 20 ponies and horses to ride throughout the year. Being at the gateway of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there is always so much to discover, whether on foot, bicycle or horseback the stunning landscape with deep wooded valleys and pretty coastal villages is not to be missed. And as all cottages welcome at least two dogs each, your four-legged friend will get to tag along too.

The original farmhouse dates back to the 14th century and along with the cottages, has been skilfully converted into high quality holiday accommodation with every modern comfort, cosy open fires and woodburning stoves. The Property has low characterful beams, comfy window seat overlooking the courtyard and a traditional solid fuel Rayburn which now takes centre stage as a reminder of how the farmhouse was heated in previous decades. The large inglenook fireplace in the lounge provides a fantastic focal point as well as an enormous amount of heat once lit. Outside there is a lovely shared courtyard garden with some tiered levels and barbecue and access to the childrens playroom. This lovely Cornish cottage makes an ideal choice for those seeking a rather special place for a family holiday.

This property offers a low occupancy discount of 10% on full weekly bookings for parties of 4 or less at certain times of the year which means that two bedrooms will be unavailable. Bude is the most Easterly town in North Cornwall and its rugged coastline and sandy beaches make this a perfect destination for a surfing trip or family seaside holiday. The Bude canal opens out onto Summerleaze beach featuring a popular Sea Pool; a perfect spot for families. Other local beaches include Crooklets, Widemouth Bay and Sandymouth Beach all are popular with surfers, beachcombers and rock pool enthusiasts alike.

Perched above the town, the North Cornwall Golf Club has stunning views out to sea and the challenging 18 hole links course is available all year round. For those seeking an exciting day out, the Adventure International offers a range of activities such as abseiling, caving and dragon boating.

There are plenty of Cornish Castles to explore locally including Tintagel and Launceston Castles, also Penhallam Manor which has a complete ground plan of a moated 13th Century Manor House. The Castle Bude has a gallery and a Heritage Centre which displays much of the town’s history and legends. Harlequinns Leisure Centre has Ten Pin Bowling and also an indoor children’s play area. The nearby villages of Tintagel and Boscastle are also well worth a visit; The Museum of Witchcraft in Boscastle holds the world’s largest collection of artefacts and historical memorabilia.

Cornwall is the most western part of the South West of England and is a very popular holiday destination with its array of golden sand beaches and dramatic cliff top scenery. The Cornish peninsular is bordered by sea, north, south and west with just one (land based) entrance and exit route over the eastern border to Devon. Traditionally fishing, mining and agriculture were the mainstays of the local economy but tourism has since replaced these. Cornwall boasts thousands of acres of un-spoilt moorland protected as an area of outstanding natural beauty. All year round, the 630 miles of coastal walks (preserved in part by the National Trust and Duchy of Cornwall), are enjoyed by walkers of all ages. Cornwall is known for its mild climate giving rise to the plethora of botanical & specialist gardens like the Eden project, Trelissick and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. By escaping to Cornwall you can thoroughly immerse yourself in the many contrasts that draw visitors year after year. From the picturesque fishing villages steeped in history to the iconic Eden Project, looking to the future. Survey the changing landscape from moorland to the dramatic & varied Cornish coastline. Sample the freshest gourmet offerings from the abundance of local produce or simply find a quiet spot and unwind with a Cornish clotted cream ice-cream! Wherever you choose to hang up your boots, you will never be far from the sea.

South West

England’s peninsula incorporates the counties of Cornwall and Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol. This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
