Comfortable Big Cottage, Windermere

This traditional Lakeland residence is conveniently located only a short 5 minute stroll mid way between both vibrant villages of Windermere and Bowness together with the shores of Lake Windermere.

Convenience and space makes Ravenscroft a perfect base for sociable gatherings and family holidays at any time of the year with each of the four large bedrooms enjoying en-suite bathroom facilities. The reception rooms are also spacious and gracious and although everything is so close at hand you can relax in the garden and terrace without noticing the busy activity all around you.

Accommodation in detail
Park either in your private parking spaces or on the lane and wander through the garden to a traditional entrance porch. A spacious entrance hall leads into the drawing room with large windows on two sides, polished floor boards and relaxing furnishings by the fire. The dining room is fit for any formal gathering and from here is access into the well equipped kitchen. On the ground floor is a shower room with 5th WC and then upstairs to the first floor. On this level is the king size room complete with brass bed and en-suite shower room; and two double bedrooms, one with en-suite shower room and one with en-suite bathroom with shower over the bath. The stairs continue to the top floor double bedroom complete with en-suite shower room. On the lower ground level is a useful store room ideal for bikes etc and where the washing machine and tumble dryer are found. Outside the garden wraps around the property with a raised patio with garden furniture.


Location
Only a few miles from Lake Windermere itself, Windermere village is a charming and vibrant village at the heart of the Lakes. Only a short drive from the M6, and with good train links from Oxenholme, couples can easily meet up here and will find the village a fantastic Lake District self-catering base for trips throughout the National Park. The friendly village centre is a delightful community to settle into - tasty cafes, local shops, excellent Booths supermarket, traditional Lakeland pubs and plenty of picturesque Lake District walks from your door. You must walk up Orrest Head during your stay; the views over Lake Windermere are spectacular.


Walk or drive a few miles from your Windermere self-catering apartment, just down the road to Bowness, and you'll find even more to entertain - a wider range of restaurants, shops, pubs and trendy bars, plus the boating activity of Windermere lake shore. Why not take a cruise on the lake to Ambleside or Lakeside?

LocationCumbria & The Lake District

The rural county of Cumbria is one of the most attractive in England. It contains the whole of the area known as the Lake District, as well as the northern part of the Pennines mountain range and, somewhat counter-intuitively, a part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county is replete with attractions for the visitor, its historic heritage ranging from houses and gardens to stone circles and activities ranging from walking and climbing to watersports and fishing. Cumbria's lakes, valleys and fells can loosely be broken down into eight areas.

The North Lakes are the most popular with the serious outdoor enthusiast and the South Lakes draw most of the holidaymakers. The Western Lakes are less busy but still hold some varied attractions and appeal to the walkers as well as families and groups. They are home to England's tallest mountain, known as Scafell Pike.

East Lakes has its quota of mountains too, including the well-known Helvellyn, and is a fairly quiet area. Visit the Eden Valley and North Pennine area for wilderness, castles and rural villages, or perhaps consider North and South Cumbria. In the former we find Hadrian's Wall and the city of Carlisle. In the latter, coastal resorts and the biggest town, Kendal. Finally, the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful part of Cumbria with country pubs, easy walking, and a thriving arts scene.
