Located on the west coast of Angus is the historic harbour town of Arbroath, renowned for its \'Arbroath Smokies\' (smoked haddock to you and me!). With sandy beaches, and rugged cliffs the coastline at Arbroath is perfect for walking, there are nature trails with plenty of wildlife to spot too! Visit the ruins of the impressive 12th Century Arbroath Abbey, a Tironensian monastery, located in the town centre, set in beautiful grounds. The Visitor Centre provides information on the historic site. Located at waters edge, by the harbour, is Arbroath Signal Tower Museum, the exhibit tells the story of the maritime and industrial heritage of the town and the lighthouse tower. Take the children to Kerr’s Miniature Railway, where there is a range of miniature engines to see, and take a trip on the ride-on train along the seafront railway.
