From pristine sandy beaches, rolling agricultural landscapes and the majestic heather clad hills and lush forests of the Angus Glens, Angus offers a range of breath taking scenery to soak up. Out in the countryside there are many Munros which offer superb walking opportunities or there is some of the best salmon and sea trout fishing in Scotland. The city of Dundee has a vibrant and lively centre; a great family day out, with fantastic shopping facilities! The harbour is home to the Discovery Point Visitor Centre, home to the spectacular ship RRS Discovery. Arbroath is an old fishing port famous the world over for its smoked fish, the Arbroath Smokie. It was here, in the Abbey, that the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320. The coastal town of Montrose offers beautiful sandy beaches, and is home to a large nature reserve known as the Basin, a haven for wildlife, a special favourite for wading birds due to its muddy nature! There are also wonderful beaches at Lunan Bay and St Cyrus. The spectacular Glamis Castle, which was the childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, is a fantastic family day out, and golfers must pay a visit to the famous Carnoustie championship golf course.
