Bridgwater Large Holiday Homes

A bustling town full of fascinating architecture from its history as a port settlement. Hosting an impressive illuminated carnival in November, from its early beginnings in the 17th century this is now the largest procession of its kind. The town is also within easy access for day trips to many West Country destinations such as Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves and Dunster Castle.

The Blake Museum displays numerous exhibitions of maritime, art and wartime archives. The adjoining Blake Gardens are also nice for a stroll. Hidden in the Quantock Hills are the wild gardens at Fyne Court, with marked walks to follow and play trails for children. Tours are available and there is also a tea room offering refreshments. Within the grounds of a medieval priory are the Walled Gardens of Cannington, with relaxing walks through the award winnings grounds which are full of rare and unusual specimens. For spotting the local birdlife you can also visit the RSPB Greylake Reserve

The Westonzoyland Pumping Station has a museum of steam engines and working pumps. The Bridgwater and Taunton canal has lovely stretches of towpath for walking along the nearby countryside and from the hilltop ruin Burrow Mump there are views out across the Somerset flats.
