Battle Large Holiday Homes

Named after the historic Battle of Hastings, the pretty town of Battle is home to many ancient sites of interest and notable Georgian buildings. Much of the battlefield itself is now part of the Battle Abbey country park, the visitor centre and atmospheric abbey ruins are a great start to the tour. Also on site are a dairy, underground ice house and Victorian walled garden. Lots of fun events and re-enactments through the year including the Battle Marbles Matches and the Summer Fayre.

The Observatory Science Centre is a great family day out; there is a range of astronomical exhibitions, fun interactive experiments and demonstrations. The Museum of Local History is also worth a visit, with a copy of the Bayeux Tapestry on display and many Roman artefacts. The surrounding Almonry Gardens are nice for a quiet stroll, and the town itself has a variety of independent shops, art galleries as well as the weekly country market. Ideally positioned for exploring both the countryside and coast, the newly renovated pier at Hastings and the bustling resort of Bexhill on Sea are ideal for a day trip to the seaside.
