Description

The moment that you arrive at Burnhope Lodge you realise that this is something special.

Burnhope Lodge is a stunning shooting lodge in a spectacular hillside position above the pretty village of Wearhead in County Durham.

With stunning views over the surrounding hills and moors, Burnhope Lodge is luxuriously appointed throughout to provide first-class accommodation for friends or families wishing to get together in one of the most spectacular destinations imaginable.

It offers guests the opportunity to experience the traditional hospitality and elegance of a traditional sporting lodge in the heart of the Durham moorlands.

At Burnhope Lodge your every wish will be catered for from the enormous sitting room with sumptuous sofas, amazing views and large roaring fire to the grand formal dining table.

The vast kitchen has an AGA and range cooker which will keep even the most experienced cooks happy, or why not take some time off and arrange for a local chef to come in and cater for you?

An impressive staircase takes you up to eight spacious bedrooms with panoramic views and en-suite bathrooms, whilst a further bedroom on the ground floor has a wet room and full facilities for the less mobile.

A study provides respite for those wanting some quiet time alone plus a drying room is on the ground floor to warm up coats and wellies before taking a bracing walk on the hillside.

Outside, there is a games room with a full-size snooker table, bar and television, a perfect spot to spend those rainy days.

Close to the lodge, a large reservoir provides fishing for guests with up to four rods, however for those not wishing to participate, there are endless miles of hill walks which are more than enough to satisfy even the most adventurous explorer.

Why not spend a day exploring the area?

Durham lies just 30 miles due east, High Force and Barnard Castle are to the south or head north to discover the delights of the Heritage coastline and Hadrian's Wall.

A visit to Burnhope Lodge will be a truly memorable experience with outdoor pursuits and endless walks, while at the end of long day, ultimate luxury and pampering await you.

Wearhead is set in rural countryside with the nearest shop being 3 miles away in St John's Chapel, and further amenities can be found in the village of Stanhope, ten miles away. Stanhope is described as the "Capital of Weardale" as it occupies a sheltered position on the north side of the Wear at the confluence of the river and the Stanhope burn. The village is home to the Durham Dales Centre, offering tourist information, a coffee shop and local arts and crafts. In addition it offers a selection of pubs, specialist food stores, art gallery, outdoor swimming pool and pleasant riverside walks.
