Description

In the beautiful village of Chelsworth, famous for its outstanding gardens and ancient houses, many built in and before the 17th century, this stunning and unusual barn conversion is packed full of delightful contrasts; an ancient shell, an utterly contemporary interior, comfortable and homely with a delightful industrial finish. Set within delightful countryside it has a remote feel yet is within a 3-minute walk of the delightful village and its excellent pub, The Peacock. As featured in The Times 'Best holiday houses for groups in Britain in 2018'.

Built on the side of the valley, the barn takes advantage of the contours of the hill and the creation of several sunken garden areas to give garden access to three of the four floors of this magnificent barn. Double doors lead from the drive to the entrance area, which gives access to a cloakroom, laundry room and storage cupboards. Long sloping corridors with stairs lead up into the enormous open plan living area with spacious and well fitted kitchen, dining for 14 or more guests and large and luxurious sitting room with sofas and chairs and large Smart TV, double doors open on to the terrace. A further corridor leads to the ground floor bedroom and en suite bathroom and stairs to the lower ground floor where there is an enormous bedroom with large sitting area and en suite bathroom. Upstairs on the 1st floor there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom with a further set of stairs leading to the second floor master bedroom, it's en suite bathroom and dressing room. There are wonderful views of the surrounding meadows and fields from the majority of windows.

NB: Guests are asked to be advised that the main staircase within the property has no hand-rail and is open to one side. Guests are therefore asked to be advised to watch children and any who may be unsteady on their feet. Please feel free to view the stairs within the 3D Walk-through tour above.

The Property is approached by a byway - with fields either side. 5 bar gates open into the large drive with ample parking for six cars. A large terrace with table and chairs and barbecue opens from the living room. The Property is surrounded by large areas of lawn. The garden is very private, separated from the surrounding fields and meadows by hedging. Shop: 4.8 miles, Pub: 350 yards.

Situated on the north bank of the river Brett in one of the most beautiful and unspoilt parts of Suffolk the village of Chelsworth, which has only around seventy properties, was first documented in 962. Almost unchanged in the last 200 years the village street is peppered with thatched, wattle and daub cottages and houses, its iconic bridge and well-known pub little changes from the outside.
