Situated in heart of the Waveney Valley, this market town is a thriving centre of traditional food shops, arts and music festivals. This is a perfect base for visiting the local countryside; there are 3 circular walks from the town and numerous cycling routes. A great starting point to exploring the town is by setting off on The Discovery Trail which will lead through all the distinctive winding streets and historical buildings. Every Wednesday a market is hosted, selling local produce and bric-a-brac. At the Corn Exchange is the quirky Cornucopia, selling vintage goods and with its own themed street scene and tea rooms. The venue is a wonderful variety of galleries, museum areas and shopping.
Local breweries include St Peters and the Grain Brewery where visitors are welcome to a tour upon request. Also just a short drive from the town is the Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum which has an impressive collection of memorabilia and aircrafts externally and within the hangers. The Harleston Museum has fascinating exhibits of artefacts from the past times and working life of the town.
Bressingham Steam and Gardens is a fun and unique day out, there are 20 acres of gardens and four railway networks which take visitors through the parkland and woods. There are vintage steam exhibits, restoration projects and fairground rides.
