Cosy Holiday Home, Aberaeron

This beautiful four bedroom farmhouse sleeps eight guests in style with many modern touches and a feel of luxury. Situated between the historic village of Aberdaron and the popular beach at Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) on the Lleyn Peninsula, Ysgubor Bach is spacious and largely open plan downstairs, combining traditional oak beams and a gorgeous inglenook fireplace complete with log burning stove.

At the heart of the farmhouse is a cosy yet spacious lounge with sofas, a flatscreen TV, WiFi and an inglenook fireplace with woodburning stove. The dining area has a wooden table which expands to seat 8, and an iPod dock and radio. A traditional oak doorway leads through to the gorgeous farmhouse kitchen complete with slate flooring, black Aga with two ovens and gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and an amazing traditional solid fuel range for those who want to cook 'Downton style'. And for coffee lovers there is a De Longhi Magnifica bean to cup coffee machine with integrated milk frotha for cappuccinos. A separate utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, Belfast sink and small fridge/freezer, and there is a ground floor cloakroom with WC and basin. At the front of the farmhouse, guests can enjoy the views from the pretty conservatory with seating and driftwood table. Upstairs there is a family bathroom with a basin, WC and bath with handheld shower, a separate shower room, and four bedrooms - a kingsize with ensuite shower room, a double, a twin and a room with full-size bunk beds.

Ysgubor Bach has a patio area with seating and a barbecue to the front of the house and to the side there is a large secure grassed area with trees. There are lovely views across open farmland and ample off-road parking for up to three cars.

RUSSIAN BANYA EXPERIENCE

The owners of Ysgubor Bach have lived and worked in Russia and wanted to bring a little bit of Russian tradition to Wales - so they built a Banya !

This self-indulging relaxation experience is a true hot tub alternative - come and enjoy the secret that millions of Russians have known for centuries: the cleansing and refreshing atmosphere of traditional sauna bathing. Enjoy the facilities with your family and friends and have a relaxation experience of a lifetime.

The luxury Russian Banya, or sauna, offers guests the opportunity to experience what is known as "wet heat." The Russian Banya usually has temperatures of 60-80 degrees Celsius with humidity at about 60-70%. The design of the Russian Banya involves the use of a wood-burning stove that heats up the special stones present inside the stove itself. It is these stones that absorb, hold, and slowly release the large amounts of heat that offer the guest an invigorating and relaxing experience. Also, the Russian Banya has a bucket of water with a ladle, which is used to gently pour drops of water onto the stones so as to raise the humidity of the Banya.

The Banya is available as an option between 1100 and 2200 and the maximum number of persons that can be accommodated at one time is 8. If you wish to use the banya during your stay please provide 24 hours notice as the stove needs to be prepared for some hours before it is hot enough to use. A 3-hour banya session costs £20 per person (min 2 persons), and a towel and sheet per person are provided. All you need bring are a swimsuit and a pair of flip-flops, and a bathrobe if you wish. Children are also welcome to experience the Banya but must be carefully supervised at all times. (over 10 HALF-PRICE and under 10 FREE)

A birch venik (£5) may also be purchased and instructions on its use can be provided, and we have felt hats for rent (£2) if required.

LocationPembrokeshire

Located in the far west of Wales, the county of Pembrokeshire is renowned for its superb coastline, attracting swimmers and beach goers with its idyllic stretches of beautiful sand, and walkers and nature enthusiasts to its miles of coastal paths and the Coast National Park with its abundance of wildlife. Inland the landscapes are practically tailored for outdoor adventurers, with the Preseli Hills offering wild moorland and heaths, and ‘The Golden Road’, a walk running across the spine of the county.

There are plenty of sites of historic interest from the prehistoric Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber, to the magnificent Norman Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, sitting on the mill pond which powers the mill. Other sites include Pembroke Castle, an enormous oval fort, and the unique St Govan Chapel, built into the cliff. Other activities to entertain the family include the Oakwood Theme Park which is home to the fabulous Megafobia Rollercoaster, and the Manor House Wildlife Park; an up-close-and-personal zoo experience! There are a vast number of lovely places to visit in Pembrokeshire; Newport (not the city!) is a picturesque village on the coast, and is a desirable holiday spot. Then there is the larger and bustling Victorian seaside town of Tenby, or St Davids, one of the smallest cities in the UK!

South Wales

Although smaller in size than other regions of Wales, this area still has a great selection of historical sites to visit and rolling countryside with a dramatic coastline. Perhaps best known for the impressive Brecon Beacons, this mountain range is very popular for those seeking an activity holiday with something to suit all, from mountain biking and caving to horse riding and star gazing events. The Vale of Glamorgan is worth a visit, with a 9 mile heritage coastal path not to mention the famous Barry Island with its vibrant amusement park which is all only a few miles from Cardiff.

Not just an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Wye Valley and the Vale of Usk combined can also boast having the most castles per square mile in Britain. In recognition of its revolutionary importance the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape is now a World Heritage Site and has a fascinating collection of ironworks, mines and a national museum.

Cardiff is perfect for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. The varied choice of entertainment ranges from live music venues, guided tours and art events. For a peaceful walk or nature spotting trip then the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal is a beautiful and isolated place to unwind.
