Barn Cottage, Dolgellau

Situated on a smallholding on the lower slopes of Cadair Idris, Barn Cottage is a converted stone farm building, one mile east of the market town of Dolgellau and 9 miles from the coast at Fairbourne or Barmouth.

Downstairs, the cottage has beamed, open-plan living accommodation comprising lounge with a multi-fuel stove, Sky TV, DVD player, music centre and French windows leading out to the patio with lovely views, and kitchen/dining area including fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. Also on the ground floor is a small shower room, a bath/shower room, twin bedroom and bedroom with a single bed and additional pull-out single. Upstairs are two more bedrooms - a double and one with double bed and single bed. There is oil-fired central heating throughout, iPod docking station and free WiFi. Welcome Tray provided.

Guests have their own patio and enclosed garden area with picnic furniture and barbecue. Private games room accessed from the garden with pool table, darts, table tennis etc, and large shared outdoor play area with swings, toddlers activity centre and football. Plenty to do on site, with excellent walking from the door, but also wonderful activities and attractions nearby, including mountain biking at Coed-y-Brenin. Fairbourne, has a beach and narrow gauge railway, and Barmouth is a popular, traditional seaside town with long, sandy beach.

North Wales showcases some of the UK's most varied landscape, from the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia to the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. Indeed, it is one of the only parts of Britain where you can be in the mountains in the morning and at the seaside by the afternoon. The diverse animal life of the region reflects this, with everything from otters to ospreys and seals to dolphins.

Not many places are imbued with such history and heritage, which is reflected throughout the region from cottages to castles! Attractions abound, with zoos and farms, steam railways and activity centres. There are regular events from international cultural festivals and shows to family fun days.

The area also offers a huge range of outdoor activities; walking, cycling, fishing, golf and water-sports to name only a few. In many parts of North Wales the spoken language is Welsh, not English, although people who cannot or will not speak the latter are rare, and signposts and other notices always display their message in both languages.
