Well Appointed Group Retreat, near Brecon (POPLABR)

One of a pair of fabulous, new and spacious Eco Lodges with a shared Hot Tub and children's play area. Close to wonderful hill walking and mountain bike trails. Built with both traditional welsh stone at the front overlooking the lawn and wooden "D" shape log on the sides and back of the property making this reminiscent of American Lodges or Log Cabins. Every internal room with an external wall has been clad with a lovely wide timber for everybody to enjoy the log home experience and to ensure they are warm, welcoming and cosy.

Property information

The kitchens are "state of the art" with lovely large fridge freezer, large electric oven with hobs, microwaves, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier. There is a spacious dining area where visitorscan eat at a traditional Oak farmhouse style dining table and chairs seating 10. In both Lodges there are large French windows looking out over the panoramic views of the garden, the children's play area and across the Valley to the hills beyond to the Llyn-yr-Fan Lake where the legendry "Lady of the Lake" appeared.

There are comfortable sofas and chairs for relaxing and large screen TV's with DVD, CD player and Broadband Wi-fi. Mobile telephone reception is variable but possible in places. All bedrooms have brand new flat screen Freeview TV's and mattresses are pocket sprung with memory foam top layer ensuring a five star comfortable sleep.

Bedroom 1: There is a downstairs bedroom with twin beds and a large wheel-in shower/wet room with hand basin and toilet. The disabled bed in both lodges are electrically operated to lift the head or feet as required, please discuss further with owner.

Eco Lodges

These two new properties have been built and developed making them as comfortable, warm and hi-tech green energy efficient as possible with 2 ground source heat pumps gaining the heat from 8 Geo thermal bore holes in the front garden drilled to a depth of 330 ft deep, SolarThermal panels and heat recovery system which will expel damp, moist air from bathrooms and kitchen drawn through a heat exchanger which expels damp air outside and brings back in fresh filtered air that is warmed up as it passes through the exchanger back into all other rooms. Typically 70% efficiency is achieved.

The Electric Car - B-Bug

The Electric Car - B-Bug can also be hired by visitors

With access and accommodation for visitors in wheelchairs.

In both Lodges downstairs bedrooms are suitable for visitors with disability and wheelchair bound. The bedroom has twin beds and a large wheel-in shower/wet room with whb and wc. The disabled bed in both lodges are electrically operated to lift the head or feet as required.

Bike Hire

12 Mountain Bikes available for hire on Discussion in advance with the owner - £25 full day, £15 half a day.

Location

The Lodges are located in a lovely setting in the centre of the tiny hamlet of Crai in the centre of The Brecon Beacons and with perfect walking straight from the door. There is a regular bus service 50 yards away. The owners also own a country pub nearby which lies at the foot of the Brecon Beacons. The large organic farm supplies Welsh Beef and Lamb to Waitrose and 300 acres of land for visitors to explore and walk over (on discussion with the owner).

Star gazing - The farm has recently been awarded a Dark Skies Milky Way status due to its unpolluted dark skies. Access to binoculars and Telescope available on request.

Grazing available

The Owner of the Farm and the Lodges is very enterprising and happy to provide grazing (on discussion) if visitors wish to bring horses.

LocationMid Wales

This is the go to place for outdoor enthusiasts to make the most of the fantastic walking, riding & cycling opportunities, especially in the Cambrian Mountains National Park. The Ceredigion Coastal Path features numerous trails to choose from depending on how far you wish to travel. Whether for a full walking holiday or just a stroll along the cliffs to a village pub, this unspoilt route is perfect and has views out across the famous Cardigan Bay which is home to the UKs largest pod of dolphins.

Dotted along the Wales-West England border are lots of lovely market towns, many of which have their own castle. This disputed ground has a large number of Roman and Norman medieval fortresses, today some are only ruins or just the earthen works remain however there are plenty which have restored to their former glory and are open to visitors.

Mid Wales also just touches on the edge of the Brecon Beacons, a popular mountain range for exploring caves, forest activities and other more extreme outdoor sports such as rock climbing and abseiling. A number of historic railways mean other regions of Wales are easily accessible for a day trip, and make for an enjoyable way to travel and take in the sights.
