Pop Art Country House, Callander (215)

If you're looking for a holiday house with a difference, step inside this extraordinary Scottish country house and discover the wow factor.

This truly exceptional holiday house offers historic hospitality combined with contemporary cool and is unlike any other venue in Scotland.  From the outside it looks very much like a Scottish Baronial country house, but once you step inside you are blown away by the “pow” of the pop art and the sassiness of style. You just won’t know where to look first as you’re treated to Macalpine Miller artwork, filling the property with colourful designs from floor to ceiling. The quirkiness will no doubt add layer upon layer to your enjoyment.

Although in a country setting amongst private grounds, the house is within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow and one just mile from Callander. In recent years it’s been renovated to become the luxurious property of today, offering all the space you need for up to 24 people, with an impressive 100 foot long drawing room, library, music room, games room, cinema room, gym, dining room and well equipped modern kitchen.

The splendour continues throughout the bedrooms, with unique finishing touches including a selection of four poster beds and distinctive décor which creates an ideal base for that once-in-a-lifetime country experience or living life like a rock star, even if it is just for the weekend!

All bookings come complete with two hours housekeeping, working on behalf of the house each day, and the services of a private chef, (food costs charged additionally, please contact us for more information.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Gart. The unique interior made for a perfect party in the evening. It was spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. Bathrooms toiletries and bed linen up-market. Claire, the cook, was extremely helpful and the tailor-made Scottish themed evening was carefully thought out and well delivered.

Located in the council area of Stirling but positioned in the county of Perthshire, Callander is a small town that sees itself as the “Gateway to the Highlands”. This is a part of Scotland that is popular with the activity minded, with great walking available particularly in the “Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park”. Nearby Ben Ledi stands at 879 metres high and is good challenge for all walkers and is classified as a “Corbett”. No longer served by a railway (the nearest is 11 miles away at Dunblane), some of the old railway lines have become the Rob Roy Way and route 7 of the National Cycle Network. The town itself has many local shops, pubs and hotels, as well as a Tesco supermarket. The river Teith runs by and is well known for salmon fishing. For golfers Callander has a very picturesque 18-hole parkland course with fine views towards Ben Ledi.

Perthshire is a natural choice for visitors as geographically it is in the very heart of Scotland. Its popularity is no wonder; with the lush lowland pastures of the south meeting the rugged grandeur of the Highlands, this county is beautifully rich in scenery and magnificent landscapes. The old county of Kinross-shire is now generally considered to be part of this region, and the local council area is now called Perth and Kinross. Kinross sits beside the beautiful Loch Leven, with Lochleven Castle nearby. The central point is the city of Perth, the fair city bustles with life, with the river Tay running through it. The impressive Scone Palace is nearby, which was the crowning place for Scottish Kings. Perthshire is also home to the world famous Gleneagles Hotel and leisure complex. This is also Big Tree Country, with the world's highest hedge at Meikleour, Europe's oldest tree, the widest conifer in Britain, the sole survivor from Shakespeare's Birnam Wood and many more fascinating trees. Why not visit Glenshee and take part in some skiing, or try mountain biking through the many hills and glens. Blair Castle is an impressive site, and with expansive grounds and an adventure playground, will entertain the whole family.

    Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.
