Deluxe Highland Lodge, near Blair Atholl (306B)

If you wish to enjoy stunning Scottish scenery with family and friends in opulent comfort, then this luxury lodge and cottage offers a five star setting inside and out.

With an outstanding open view of Loch Garry and screened by mature Scots pine trees from the A9, this 19th century lodge and cottage have been completely renovated and transformed in 2014 to provide the luxury accommodation that is on offer today. The lodge is set-up to accommodate 12 adults within 6 bedrooms with 6 bathrooms, whilst the cottage sleeps 4 people in 2 bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms. Tastefully decorated throughout to the highest standard, you will discover an interior designer’s touch everywhere, as well as a touch of the traditional with stag’s heads on the walls.

Gathering in the delightful drawing room, enjoying the view from the conservatory or just chilling in the sitting room in front of the TV, this is a great show-off venue to relax in. After a fine dinner in the dining room, what better than a few games of snooker in the games room. On retiring, each bedroom is to a luxurious standard (as well as the bathrooms) and there are no lesser rooms, even in the cottage. This is a sporting lodge that was originally built for the Duke of Atholl to entertain guests in the Victorian era and the setting is well chosen. Set in a large estate surrounded by high hills and with Loch Garry to the front, it remains a unique setting with outstanding views. This is the ideal venue for an upmarket family break or just to gather a group of friends in a stunning environment. Weekly rentals are Sunday – Sunday. Please note access to the lodge is via a railway crossing.

Living Space

Reception rooms

The large drawing room is such a size that it has two distinctive areas. The main section with an open fire is surrounded by a large over-stuffed comfortable sofa and additional armchairs, whilst there is also an area by the bay window with views to the front. This room then leads into the conservatory with rattan furniture with exceptional views looking down the glen across to the water. Next door is a further sitting room, again with a comfortable sofa, flat-screen TV and an open fire, with a bar area off it. Out in the main hall, there is a pleasant reception area, with access from the lobby going to to a large cloakroom, where boots and coats can be stored. Additionally there is a tartan-clad games room with a ¾ size snooker table, with seating and an open fire. In the cottage, there is a cosy sitting room with wood-burning stove and TV.

Kitchen / Dining

The dining room is a sumptuous elegant room, with a long table and comfortable chairs, seating 12 people in comfort and style. An open fire at one end and views looking down the glen, all add up to the type of room one dreams of in a shooting lodge. Additionally in the summer months, breakfasting could take place in the conservatory for smaller groups of 6 round one of the rattan tables. The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, with a large range cooker with gas hobs and electric ovens. With a work island and work top space, there is plenty of space to cook in style for this number. An additional larder is next door for further food storage and there is easy access in and out of the kitchen via the back door. In the cottage, there is a galley kitchen for those who wish to cater for themselves before joining the main group in the lodge.

LocationBlair Atholl

Blair Atholl is a village that gets a lot of traffic coming through it, even though the main Perth – Inverness route, the A9, by-passes this popular location. Whilst it is an attractive village in its own right, the main focus of attention is visiting the historic Blair Castle, the ancestral home to the Dukes of Atholl. The Blair Estate also offers guided tours by rangers on the estate and there are a number of other activities that are great for all the family, including pony-trekking. For walkers there is access to Glen Tilt, which takes you all the way to Braemar. The House of Bruar shopping emporium is nearby and always proves a major hit for shoppers.

Perthshire is a natural choice for visitors as geographically it is in the very heart of Scotland. Its popularity is no wonder; with the lush lowland pastures of the south meeting the rugged grandeur of the Highlands, this county is beautifully rich in scenery and magnificent landscapes. The old county of Kinross-shire is now generally considered to be part of this region, and the local council area is now called Perth and Kinross. Kinross sits beside the beautiful Loch Leven, with Lochleven Castle nearby. The central point is the city of Perth, the fair city bustles with life, with the river Tay running through it. The impressive Scone Palace is nearby, which was the crowning place for Scottish Kings. Perthshire is also home to the world famous Gleneagles Hotel and leisure complex. This is also Big Tree Country, with the world's highest hedge at Meikleour, Europe's oldest tree, the widest conifer in Britain, the sole survivor from Shakespeare's Birnam Wood and many more fascinating trees. Why not visit Glenshee and take part in some skiing, or try mountain biking through the many hills and glens. Blair Castle is an impressive site, and with expansive grounds and an adventure playground, will entertain the whole family.

Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.

"Fabulous property. 5 Star luxury. Everything thought of, from water beside your bed to fully equipped kitchen, logs provided, full set of high quality toiletries in each bathroom. Everything about this is high quality. It’s recently renovated to an extremely high, tasteful standard. Was perfect for a special family get together. Plenty of space for 12 people. Fantastic views down to Loch Garry. Lots of walking opportunities right from the door. Don’t be put off by the proximity on the map to the A9. You can’t see or hear it from this property. Be prepared to be blown away fy the scale and grandeur of this property".

5th January 2017 Excellent

Excellent property for group if 10 over XMAS. Beautifully appointed, warm and comfortable, very well prepared by fantastic housekeeper and her partner. We went for walks around the property which is extensive.

In winter, I think you should suggest to renters that a four wheel drive vehicle may be a good option, as we struggled to get out of the property onto the main road due to snow. But please note, if we needed to get out, the housekeeper's family cleared the road and at one point, towed us out using a tractor! So 4WD is a nice to have not an essential

Service rating : Great to hear! We look forward to helping with any future trips on the cards.

Product : Fabulous to hear you had a excellent Christmas holiday at this luxurious lodge finding it warm and comfortable. Sounds like you also made the most of the extensive grounds too, enjoying winter walks.

Obviously adverse weather conditions can't be helped but all owners do their best to keep the roads as clear as possible,  perfect to hear that the housekeeper was able to assist with the access to the property throughout your stay. Thank you for your feedback, we shall certainly bare this in mind for future Winter guests.
