LocationAlyth

Alyth is a small historic town with a square as its central point, just off the A926 road from Blairgowrie to Kirriemuir, on the south side of the Hill of Alyth.  Located in the eastern section of Perthshire close to the Angus boundary, this area is well known for soft fruit growing, with an abundance of strawberries and raspberries available in the summer months. The Strathmore golf centre on the edge of the town offers two courses to choose from, whilst at Blairgowrie, the more well-known Rosemount is very popular. Within the town can be found some local shops and hotels, with a larger supermarket available in nearby Blairgowrie. For walkers, the Den of Alyth provides woodland walks with the addition of the Cateran Trail, which offers many longer walks.

Perthshire

Perthshire is a natural choice for visitors as geographically it is in the very heart of Scotland. Its popularity is no wonder; with the lush lowland pastures of the south meeting the rugged grandeur of the Highlands, this county is beautifully rich in scenery and magnificent landscapes. The old county of Kinross-shire is now generally considered to be part of this region, and the local council area is now called Perth and Kinross. Kinross sits beside the beautiful Loch Leven, with Lochleven Castle nearby. The central point is the city of Perth, the fair city bustles with life, with the river Tay running through it. The impressive Scone Palace is nearby, which was the crowning place for Scottish Kings. Perthshire is also home to the world famous Gleneagles Hotel and leisure complex. This is also Big Tree Country, with the world's highest hedge at Meikleour, Europe's oldest tree, the widest conifer in Britain, the sole survivor from Shakespeare's Birnam Wood and many more fascinating trees. Why not visit Glenshee and take part in some skiing, or try mountain biking through the many hills and glens. Blair Castle is an impressive site, and with expansive grounds and an adventure playground, will entertain the whole family.

Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.

24th July 2017 Great

Jordanstone House was absolutely brilliant. It wasn't too precious so the kids (4-16) had a ball, playing hide & seek. Or just hide. The dishwasher was a recurring problem which couldn't be repaired but, with some insistence, it was replaced by a new one the next day. The kitchen facilities were a bit random - lots of pots and pans but not many wee bowls to mix things in. The orchard & orangerie was amazing with peach trees & lovely tomatoes. The pond had newts & huge diving beetles to entertain the young naturalist. The croquet competition was hard-fought & the rounders was tricky with the different garden levels. The tennis court surface was very rough, not of Wimbledon standard. One of the main gripes was the lack of ability to open most of the bedroom windows - a problem in the warm weather.

Service rating : Many thanks for your feedback, great to hear you found our service prompt and helpful - we hope to be of assistance again in the future.

Product : Thanks for all of your comments, we'll ensure these are passed on! It sounds like everyone had a great time at this impressive mansion overall, making the most out of the spacious house and grounds on offer. Glad you managed to arrange the croquet as planned and that the dishwasher was replaced swiftly by the owners.

Should you ever wish to book with us again, don't forget we offer a loyalty discount for returning groups at our Scottish properties.

21st August 2016 Excellent

Jordanstone House was a beautiful property, with excellent rooms and beautiful grounds it was a holiday destination I would certainly go back to.

Service rating : Fab to hear you found the booking hassle free and handled by the team excellently. We'd love to help again next year and understand you're already in touch so we look forward to assisting with a booking once more.

Product : It was great to catch up with you by phone, totally agree it's a beautiful house. It sounded like you all had a brilliant time and are already considering re-booking for Spring 2017.  We'll ensure we apply your loyalty discount for this one.

1st July 2016 Great

Our family weekend birthday party at Jordanstone house was a great success. The house and grounds are delightful - plenty of space indoors and out- the tennis court and conservatory were particularly appreciated by the group aged from 8 to 85.The bedrooms and bedlinen were spotless but some of the cooking equipment was dirty. The microwave was faulty with a bad cable connection. The caretaker immediately replaced it with a new one. The plate racks in the dishwasher are broken, so plates don't stack properly and therefore don't wash properly. On the first night during heavy rain one couple were awakened with water dripping through the ceiling onto the bed. They spent the rest of the night on an unmade bed without sheets. Next morning the caretaker dealt very efficiently with the problem and our bedding arrangements were rearranged. Although there are pages of instructions in the book about fire hazards there are no instructions in the bedrooms for emergency exits and no emergency lighting. There is no fire blanket at the cooker. The house is said to have smoke alarms but when our smoky barbecues filled the hall with smoke there was no alarm! We had an excellent birthday meal at the Lands of Loyal Hotel in Alyth and a helpful delivery of fruit and veg. and speciality bread from The Pot and Pantry in Meigle.

Service rating : Lovely speaking with you and thanks so much for the excellent feedback for our service. We would be delighted to help with any future plans you may have for another get together.

Product : Many thanks for taking the time to pass on your comments and it was lovely speaking with you following your groups stay at this mansion.

This certainly is one of the more popular holiday houses for large groups in our portfolio and we’re glad to hear your stay was overall a success. Thank you for bringing the housekeeping items to our attention and I am pleased to hear the housekeeper responded promptly. After speaking with our Property Manager I can confirm the property is scheduled to be re-inspected  this Thursday as part of our ongoing annual quality control. He will check compliance and provide the owner with a comprehensive audit report. It’s feedback like yours that helps us provide the right advice and guidance to owners regarding their responsibilities in keeping guests comfortable and safe.

7th November 2015 Excellent

Fabulous house and as a party of 16 plenty of room, We hired a chef for a special evening dinner (recommended by Scotts Castles) and it was brilliant. We had read reviews about the lack of hot water before we went but this was not the case, we all had baths or showers everyday and it was very hot. All we had to supply was the food and wine, great holiday.

Service rating : Thank you for the fantastic comments, and glad we were able to assist with your holiday plans. Our team have either visited or been lucky enough to stay in all of our properties, so we are always ready with some first-hand knowledge and experience!
Product : Glad to hear you found the house spacious and the facilities well suited to your group size. It sounds like a great holiday was had by all, the beautiful grounds and house facilities are perfect for a country house getaway!

20th August 2015 Excellent

Lots of cooking utensils pans etc., as with being 18 of us we ate in every night, the dinning room was great for fitting us all in, and we had breakfast in the kitchen sitting room. My only fault was there were only about 2 coat hangers each I went out and bought more on the 2nd day. Th children enjoyed the grounds and the bikes, on the whole a great week.

Service rating : Thank you for your comments, great to hear the house was perfect for your family!
Product : Thanks for your lovely feedback, this beautiful country house is perfect for a large group and it sounds like a great time was had by all, I’m sure the children in the group also enjoyed exploring the gardens! All feedback is very much appreciated so that we may pass on any suggestions to our owners and if we can help with your next family get together please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.

11th June 2015 Great

The house and gardens are absolutely stunning and we just loved them. Downside is that it wasn't really geared up equipment wise for serious cooking, serving and cooking dishes were very limited and although I'd taken lots I had to get more brought from home and by my sister. Also key that you phase bath/shower times! I couldn't get any water out of the shower in the master bedroom before my birthday dinner and when I did it was stone cold. Partly the attraction of houses like this bit better to be aware

Service rating : Great to hear you found our service excellent, we hope we may be able to help with future trips for you all! We do hope that the gas issue was resolved quite promptly for you when contact had been made with the housekeeper and you all enjoyed the rest of the birthday celebrations.
Product : We certainly agree the house and grounds are both stunning, we are sorry to hear you found the showering a little temperamental. It sounds like you all had an excellent time enjoying this fabulous house and its quirks overall! The housekeeper can always help with the inventory for additional equipment prior to arrival which may be good to know for future reference, but we will certainly pass your comments onto the owners, any feedback is helpful to ensure we can improve were possible.

Service rating : Thank you for the great comments, glad we could help with the birthday planning!
Product : Sounds like you had a fab time in this gorgeous country house, and its lovely to hear the weather was nice for your stay and you were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds.

25th February 2015 Excellent

Great house. If being pickey only negatives were lack of showers. Hot water was unreliable when house is full. Would go back.

Service rating : Thank you for your feedback, due to the age of this lovely 18th century house there are a few quirks and as you say the showering can sometimes be a little temperamental!

It’s lovely to hear your group enjoyed the holiday and we would be very happy to help with the next trip.

13th February 2015 Excellent

Jordanstone House was beautiful and we loved our stay. Lots of excellent facilities and an abundance of space. We did feel slightly rushed out on the day we left by the key holder (which was still a day before we had paid to stay) but the property itself was stunning. I'm still waiting to hear about my GHD deposit which I hope will be returned.

Thank you for your lovely comments and it’s great to hear you enjoyed the stay in this beautiful country house!

The housekeeper who looks after the property does like to visit guests on the day of departure. The owner was aware your group were departing on the Monday and offers his apologies that on this occasion the housekeeper did pop by a day before your group were due to leave. Very sorry if you felt rushed at all! Your GHD security deposit has also been returned in full, and you would have also received email confirmation of the refund. We would be delighted to help with planning your next trip!

11th December 2014 Excellent

The holiday house exceeded all our expectations. It was very beautiful, spotlessly clean and the couple living on the estate were at hand if things were needed. All in all. 22 of us were there for 3 nights and we would all have happily stayed for the week. Would love to return in the near future.

Thanks for your excellent comments all round!

It’s great to hear your expectations were exceeded, Jordanstone is certainly an impressive house and we had no doubt you would have a fabulous time! We are pleased you found the house clean and key holder helpful.

18th September 2014 Excellent

Jordanstone House exceeded our expectations - the perfect venue for a family birthday celebration. Formal setting but very relaxing and accommodating of children of all ages (and dogs, too!). The house had everything provided everything we needed and a very friendly reception from Kasia. The gardens are beautiful and overall, everything is very well maintained. The bedrooms on the 2nd floor are a little disappointing compared to the 1st floor rooms, so we did feel that some of the party weren't getting the full Jordanstone experience. The only other complaint was the showering - a bit tempermental when everyone using them at the same time. Not surprising given the age of the property, but showering considered an essential in our party! Other than that, a fabulous weekend in a charming property. Lots to explore in the grounds and also nearby - wish we could have stayed longer!

Thanks so much for your comments, it was a pleasure to be of assistance with your families celebratory trip and we are pleased that you found our service helpful!

It sounds like you all had a nice time enjoying this fantastic property and its grounds, including your pets too! We will certainly pass your comments on, feedback is always invaluable in order for necessary improvments to be made where possible. Overall it sounds like you had a great time though and we hope we can be of help again in the future should you wish to re book.

Superb venue - got exactly what was paid for and so much more. However, one piece of advice for anyone else going there in winter time - try and keep the front doors closed. Guests left it open and it cooled down the house quickly. Apart from that, which was of our own making - what a fabulous place and holds special memories for us. We will be back again.

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased you thought it was a fantastic place and want to go back again. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if we can help with any future trips and remember to claim your loyalty discount next time!

Fantastic, special property, beautiful warm rooms, there was no need to light any of the fires although we did this just for effect on one night. Had fantastic fun and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our 4 night stay. The caretaker James was particularly knowledgable and keen to be of help. We will definitely revisit Jordonstone House.

Many thanks for your lovely feedback, glad to hear your family enjoyed their stay in this stunning house. I’m sure you all had a great Hogmanay, and we look forward to helping with your future holiday plans!
