If you’d like to get a glimpse at how the other half live, an uber-smart, luxury sporting lodge in Scotland wouldn’t be a bad place to start. Overlooking Loch Rannoch with a mountainous backdrop, this traditional sporting lodge could arguably be one of the finest this side of the Cairngorms. Clearly influenced by an interior designers touch, the décor throughout this large holiday home is a blend of Scottish countryside pursuit and contemporary classic chic with guest comfort considered at every turn.

The indoor swimming pool is an art-piece and the vast games room above is somewhere one could while away many enjoyable hours. Heated throughout, this large holiday home is kept at a comfortably warm temperature all year round, which might come as a relief to those who feel the cold. From the moment you walk through the front door, it feels as if the house has been designed to wrap each guest in a welcoming embrace, charming them to stay forever.

Located towards the end of Loch Rannoch and set back from the meandering road, the property belongs to part of a much larger estate on which guests are free to roam and fish. A helipad provides a convenient means of arrival and departure for those with busy schedules.  Stables and a ménage with all the relevant facilities are also provided for guests who wish to make use of them. Loch Rannoch is a stunning part of the Central Scottish belt, near the Cairngorm Mountains and located off the A9 being the major arterial road joining the north and south of Scotland.

Weekly lets and short breaks are welcome, with flexible arrival and departure days to suit your needs. The rental includes housekeeping service.

Living Space

Reception rooms

To the left of the entrance hall you’re led into a recently refurbished drawing room with smart, upholstered furniture as pleasing to sit on as to look. An open fire is lit for ambience although not necessary given the general warmth of the house. To the right of the hall is a small ‘snug’ with TV hidden within an antique cabinet beyond that you’ll find the entrance to the back stairs as well as a larger ‘playroom’ also with a TV and comfortable bean bag pillows and cushions, popular with younger members of the family. A wide set of front stairs from the entrance hall sweep up to the first floor where the majority of bedrooms are found.

Out in the courtyard to the rear is a building forming the L-shape that has been converted into a sporting complex. This 2-storey building houses a luxury heated indoor swimming pool (kept at between 28 - 31 degrees) with 3 changing rooms and a w.c. at ground level and the games room above with full size snooker table, table tennis table, table football table and gym equipment above. This is the perfect space for some sporting family competition.

There's unlimited wifi in the house and work to the network in 2018 has significantly improved its speed with more work in 2019 aimed to future proof it still.  However due to the remote location of the property, the speeds are not always reliable.  

Kitchen / Dining

The kitchen is huge and more easily accessed via the back door which opens into a long wide corridor with wooden shoe boxes fitted the length of the wall, a perfect storage solution for large groups. The kitchen is vast and equipped with every piece of equipment you could expect from a venue like this. Lots of space for cooks and cooks helpers. You’ll not want for space to store your provisions or wine. Every need has been considered from wine cabinets with temperature and humidity controls to ice making machines. Whether you choose to cook yourself or bring one in to cook for you, working in this kitchen will be a pleasure.

A large refectory table is positioned in one corner of the kitchen, large enough to seat 12 adults. Leading off the kitchen is a long conservatory looking out onto the manicured enclosed garden with boxed hedges sheltered in the L-shape of the main house and swimming pool extension. The conservatory tends to be the spot where most of the major meals are eaten, as its table can comfortably accommodate 20 guests, which is more than the formal dining room next door can manage (12 max). Heated underfloor this light, contemporary space is a lovely spot to sit whether at mealtimes or just with a cup of coffee and magazine in hand. It feels ‘lived in’ with well-tended plants lining the slate shelf that runs the length and breadth of the room. 

A housekeeper works 3 hours a day on behalf of the estate.

The Lodge supplies plenty of Scottish made handsoap, shower gel, shampoo and handwash, as well as bottled water in all bedrooms.

Grounds & Surrounds

With its own heli-pad, walled garden, acres of grounds, luxury games hall and indoor swimming pool - this is not any old country house.  This is uber-comfort at its very best.  There's plenty to do for all ages whatever the weather.  

Fishing for brown trout (15th March - 6th October) in the Loch is also included in the rental.  There are stables and a menage for those looking for a perfect equine holiday.  The gamekeepers chickens will also provide guests with fresh eggs and young children with hours of entertainment.  

Located 60 miles north west of Perth, travelling the length of Loch Rannoch, the lodge is easily located off the single track road.

The nearest village is Kinloch Rannoch, which is 9 miles away, where a village store and hotel can be located, with the nearest shopping to be found at Pitlochry, 33 miles away. The nearest train station is Rannoch, 8 miles away. The nearest golf courses are to be found in Blair Atholl and Pitlochry. Edradour Distillery is located in Pitlochry and the shopping emporium, House of Bruar is located near Blair Atholl.

Linen, towels, heating, electricity and an initial supply of logs. The housekeeper works 3 hours daily on behalf of the house, rather than for the incoming client.

There's unlimited wifi in the house but due to the remote location of the property, its download speeds are not always reliable.

LocationKinloch Rannoch

Kinloch Rannoch is a village located by Loch Rannoch surrounded by mountains including the impressive Schiehallion. This is a great base for water based activities on the loch and walking in the hills. Access is via Tummel Bridge and Pitlochry. The Perthshire town is easily accessible, being just off the A9 road, and is considered a gateway to the Highlands. Located on the River Tummel and with a spectacular highland hills backdrop the area is ideal for walkers and cyclists. Killiecrankie wooded gorge is a beautiful landscape to discover. The setting of a battle during the Jacobite uprisings, you can learn its history at the Visitors Centre, and for daredevils, bungee jumping is available! The nearby Atholl Palace is now a museum, and has beautiful grounds and gardens to explore, and the magnificent Blair Castle is also open to the public. For any nature lovers, the Explorers Garden would be worth a visit, the gardens represent the exploration into world flora, with specimens from all over the world.

Perthshire

Perthshire is a natural choice for visitors as geographically it is in the very heart of Scotland. Its popularity is no wonder; with the lush lowland pastures of the south meeting the rugged grandeur of the Highlands, this county is beautifully rich in scenery and magnificent landscapes. The old county of Kinross-shire is now generally considered to be part of this region, and the local council area is now called Perth and Kinross. Kinross sits beside the beautiful Loch Leven, with Lochleven Castle nearby. The central point is the city of Perth, the fair city bustles with life, with the river Tay running through it. The impressive Scone Palace is nearby, which was the crowning place for Scottish Kings. Perthshire is also home to the world famous Gleneagles Hotel and leisure complex. This is also Big Tree Country, with the world's highest hedge at Meikleour, Europe's oldest tree, the widest conifer in Britain, the sole survivor from Shakespeare's Birnam Wood and many more fascinating trees. Why not visit Glenshee and take part in some skiing, or try mountain biking through the many hills and glens. Blair Castle is an impressive site, and with expansive grounds and an adventure playground, will entertain the whole family. 

Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.

We had an excellent time at Camusericht Lodge. The house is beautifully decorated in elegant shooting lodge style and the pool is fabulous. Ignore the reviewer who whinged about the lack of televisions in the bedrooms. Who goes to the Scottish Highlands to watch television?

Housekeeper excellent couldn't do enough for us. House needs updating in places and for the cost of rental there should be a larger television and also should be Televisions in bedrooms1 is not enough for the size of the house.. Very poor WiFi which was most inconvenient.
