With much more than a fine view overlooking Loch Fyne, this is the ideal venue to get away from it all, spend some quality time with family and friends, and just relax.

This beautifully converted farm dwelling is a perfect choice for a family holiday. The large open plan living and dining area, is a spacious comfortable room, with TV/DVD player and selection of board games, to keep everyone entertained. The modern kitchen is well equipped and ideal for your catering needs. A bunk bedroom and a twin bedroom are on the ground floor, with two double bedrooms upstairs, accommodating up to 8 people.

There is a small area of lawn to the side and front, which is all enclosed, and then there are fields and a walk of approx. 500 metres to get to the loch. Set in its own grounds, this delightful cottage is ideal for a family holiday or those wishing to base themselves within this popular west coast section of Scotland.

Living Space

Reception rooms

The living space is a sitting room, dining room and kitchen all rolled into this open plan room, which at one end has floor to roof windows, which enjoys magnificent views across Loch Fyne. With a TV in the corner of the room, there are two three-seat sofas and two armchairs in this section of the room. There is access out to the patio area from this end of the room to a sheltered area, where in the summer months it will be very pleasant sitting out here to enjoy the views.

Kitchen / Dining

The dining section is in the middle of the room with pine table and matching chairs that will seat 8 people comfortably. The kitchen section forms a U-shape and is very well equipped and designed for holiday usage. With a work-island and work tops in black granite, there is plenty of space to prepare all your meals. The cooker is a modern stainless steel gas range, which will cater for this number with ease, whilst there is also a dishwasher and upright fridge/freezer. The utility room to the rear of the house houses the washing machine and tumble dryer.

Accommodation is provided for a group of 8 adults and 1 child in 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms and 1 shower room, as follows:

Ground floor – room 1, twin room, with two single beds; bathroom, with bath with shower over, w.c and wash hand basin; room 2, bunk room, with adult sized bunks for 2 people.

First floor – room 3, double room, with king size double bed, with en-suite bathroom, with bath only, w.c and wash hand basin; room 4, double room, with double bed, with en-suite shower room, with shower cabinet, w,c and wash hand basin. (One fold-out bed for a child is available for an upstairs bedroom).

Grounds & Surrounds

Accessed by a farm road, the property is within its own secure policy with gated entry. The cottage backs onto a farm yard and shares the drive. The cottage grounds are enclosed and there is private parking for four or five cars. Located 55 miles north west of Glasgow, 4 miles from the village of Strachur, the cottage sits on a brae with an open view of the sea. A general store and a hotel are available in the village, whilst the nearest supermarket is 25 miles away in Dunoon.

For golfers there is a local 9-hole course at Cowal, whilst other activities include horse-riding, walking and sea fishing on Loch Fyne. Inveraray Castle is definitely worth a visit and a trip to the Loch Fyne Oyster shop is a must as well. The area is traditional lochs and glens scenery, with many walks and country drives to explore this further.

LocationStrachur

The small village of Strachur is located on the shore of Loch Fyne, on the north west edge of the Cowal Peninsula. Surrounded by beautiful countryside the village is ideal for exploring the local walks. Glenbranter Forest, part of the greater Argyll Forest Park, has a number of walking and cycling routes, including the Launder Walk. If you are visiting the village, stop by the Strachur Smiddy Museum, a small exhibition, displaying the tools of the traditional blacksmith trade. 

Argyllshire

Argyllshire is one of the larger of the Scottish counties. Located in the west, Argyll incorporates the coastline and isles between the Mull of Kintyre up to Ardnamurchan. The area’s biggest attraction is its immense range of landscapes; with miles of rugged cliffs and mountainous highland scenery to discover, as well as beautiful woodlands, the area is a dream destination for nature lovers. Why not visit the magnificent volcanic rock island of Staffa, where the puffins make their summer home? Or join the Beaver Trail to spot the elusive mammal recently reintroduced to the area. You could also take in the Gulf of Corryvreckan on the island at Jura, the third largest natural whirlpool in the world! Island hopping tours are a great way to discover the isles of Argyll, and for keen walkers, the mountainous landscapes of the likes of Ardgour, and the westerly range of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park are well worth a visit. Towns to take in include Oban, a resort town nestled on the Firth of Lorn; Dunoon, home to the famous Cowal Highland Gathering, an annual highland games; and Campbeltown, the county’s historic centre for whisky, fishing and ship-building.  

Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.

Very nice house, the building, contents and fitments were all of the highest quality. Locations was excellent and the little touches (like dishwasher tablets and oils/spices in the kitchen) made it even better.

Service rating : Many thanks for your review, all feedback is taken on board so we may improve our services where possible.   As indicated at enquiry stage, a 30% deposit is required to commence your contract with owners and the balance within 8 weeks of the holiday start.  We also offer an option to make installments until the balance due date.  

We can see that you used this facility throughout the build up to your holiday and hope this helped your group.It’s difficult for owners to confirm an early arrival in advance, particularly for back to back bookings during peak times as large properties do take this amount of time to prepare between lets.  We noted your request for an early check in with owners at the booking stage, and asked you recheck nearer to the start date, unfortunately they can only confirm the standard check in time until much nearer to the holiday date, as being on site they are in the best position, who can gauge how long the house preparation will take between lets.

I’ve checked your GHD refund and this was actioned within the expected time frame, when the office reopened on Monday morning, I’m am not sure if there has been a processing delay with bankers, and am sorry if this cause a delay.

beautiful location, setting and accommodation was fabulous. have never stayed in a place so wonderfully clean and provide everything you could need to make the holiday comfortable. shared with another family but was large enough to not be on top of each other. very spacious. loved it would definately come back in the future.

Exceeded expectations with regard to equipment etc - only downside was the rather grubby-looking sofa and possibly the lack of a non-slip mat in the downstairs bathroom - my husband cannot climb stairs easily and therefore we had the downstairs twin room. As he also cannot get down into, and up out of, a bath he needed to use the overhead shower in the bath downstairs which was very slippery!

Great that you found our service to be helpful and had a lovely time at Drimdarroch Farmhouse! I shall pass your comments onto the owner, feedback is always much appreciated.
