LocationBrechin

Located in the rural Angus countryside, on the banks of the river South Esk, Brechin once enjoyed city status, thanks to its cathedral. Nowadays it’s recognised as a town, although is often still referred to as a city! The cathedral stands next to a unique and interesting 11th Century round tower, one of only two in Scotland of the style.  The town’s main attraction is its fantastic Caledonian Railway. The heritage steam railway runs a seasonal tourist service from the town’s Victorian Terminal up to the Bridge of Dun. The town has a strong Pictish history, and the Pictavia visitor attraction is an interesting exhibition of this heritage. The centre also has an adventure playground and nature trail for the kids! Golf can be found at the attractive parkland 18 hole Brechin Golf Course.

Angus

From pristine sandy beaches, rolling agricultural landscapes and the majestic heather clad hills and lush forests of the Angus Glens, Angus offers a range of breath taking scenery to soak up. Out in the countryside there are many Munros which offer superb walking opportunities or there is some of the best salmon and sea trout fishing in Scotland. The city of Dundee has a vibrant and lively centre; a great family day out, with fantastic shopping facilities! The harbour is home to the Discovery Point Visitor Centre, home to the spectacular ship RRS Discovery. Arbroath is an old fishing port famous the world over for its smoked fish, the Arbroath Smokie. It was here, in the Abbey, that the Declaration of Arbroath was signed in 1320. The coastal town of Montrose offers beautiful sandy beaches, and is home to a large nature reserve known as the Basin, a haven for wildlife, a special favourite for wading birds due to its muddy nature! There are also wonderful beaches at Lunan Bay and St Cyrus. The spectacular Glamis Castle, which was the childhood home of the late Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, is a fantastic family day out, and golfers must pay a visit to the famous Carnoustie championship golf course.

Highlands and Islands

This region takes in Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness and the islands include the Inner and Outer Hebrides as well as Orkney and the Shetland islands. For spectacular scenery the Highlands of Scotland provides some of the best, with a huge expanse of area full of mountains, lochs and glens full of romance, wildlife and scenic beauty. The heritage of this area includes Culloden, taking the ferry to the Isle of Skye or just taking in one of the many castles like Eilean Donan. There is also an immense range of wildlife to be found.

2nd September 2016 Great

The property was perfectly situated for our needs as we were seeking a quiet place in the country with a lot of character and charm. The garden areas were better than advertised and were great for the children. The house is well maintained and equipped with the appropriate household supplies - the kitchen is particularly well stocked with equipment. We did not use the amazing dining room but it would be a great place for a special dinner with friends or family.
The house was tidy with clean towels and sheets but could have been cleaned with a bit more detail.

Overall, this is a special property and one I would recommend. We hope to visit again in the future.
