An outstanding traditional stone barn, off the beaten track and high up on a hillside with uninterrupted views across The Black Mountains near Abergavenny. Offa's Dyke Path is just a little further up the hillside.

The Property is a very spacious family friendly, luxurious and beautifully furnished self-catering barn.  This contemporary barn close to Abergavenny is perfect for 11 guests in 6 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.  With stone terraces and large lawns perfect for adults to relax; and a "play area" with a trampoline and swingball makes it perfect for children to play and then the large well cared for garden and lawns large enough for a cricket pitch and football goals - so masses of room to run and play.

Remote and secluded and set on the side of Hatterell Hill in the wild and romantic Llantony Valley, with views over the picturesque and hidden valleys below, this is a truly very special place to stay.

In the winter it can be muddy on the track up to the house - so please remember your wellington boots if opening the gates!

Sleeps 11 - 6 bedrooms

The very spacious and elegant kitchen is fully equipped with large central work station, Belfast sink, dishwasher, Lacanche electric range and double oven. Fridge and freezer. A fabulous swedish antique dining table and chairs to comfortably seats 12 and is located below a very impressive wall-size mirror, which adds to the light and spacious feel of this room. With composite stone floor and pale colours throughout - this room has recently been extended out over the terrace to link in with the sittingroom room.

The very spacious and comfortable sitting room has comfortable large sofas and chairs, large bookcases and as a centrepiece the open fire with Bathstone fireplace.

French doors lead out to the terraces with wonderful views from every side, with sofa, chairs and a table. Limestone tiles with underfloor heating throughout.  BBQ and a table tennis table.

Washing machine and tumble dryer are neatly housed under the staircase, by the Play room which has a large flat screen Sky TV, books and games and 2 sofas.

From the sitting room, stairs lead up to

Bedroom 1: Super king bedroom. Beautifully furnished and carpeted, with lovely bedlinen and antique pieces. The bed is zip and link so could also be made into twin beds if required.

Bedroom 2: Super king bedroom, which is a zip and link so could also be made into twin beds if required.

The family bathroom: With shower, toilet, handbasin, has a white clawfoot bath, tiled floor and tiles and black and white photographic portraits.

The whole house has some lovely decorative touches such as the framed prints of dried flowers and calligraphy from an 18th century convent, to the Quentin Blake wallpaper in the cloakroom toilet and handbasin.

Downstairs and back up some stairs to the other side of the house there are a further 3 bedrooms.

Bedroom 3: master double bedroom with en suite bathroom with a clawfoot bath, and French doors leading to private terrace. Off this room there is also a children's room with cot and single bed.

Bedroom 4: has a super king bed, again some lovely paintings and prints

Bedroom 5: has twin beds.

Bedroom 6: off the Master bedroom has a single bed.

Useful information

Bedlinen and towels provided.  Heating included, and wood for the fire.    Trampoline for children (under supervision and at own risk).   Cot and highchair.  Variable mobile reception.  WifiBetween October and April it is strongly recommended that access should be with a 4WD or a large heavy car as the track can get very muddy during the winter.  We also suggest that visitors always have a pair of wellies to hand when they arrive for the person who has to get out to open the gates on the track!

The property has been so well furnished and beautifully decorated that a "returnable bond" of £500 against unfair wear and tear is required on payment of the balance.

This would be the ideal spot for complete peace and quiet and for "getting away from it all" and a perfect family house for a special occasion or family reunion.   The vale of Ewas is a wonderful location for walkers, with Offa's Dyke footpath only a mile or so away and many other footpaths including one across Hatterell Hill to the Llanthony Valley, where you can visit the famous ruins of  Llanthony Priory. Various riding centres offer pony trekking and as well as other outdoor activities.  The local area has a wealth of interesting places to visit, excellent gastro-pubs and michelin starred restaurants., with the annual Abergavenny Food Festival in September as well as local food shops and the excellent Farmer's Market.
