The Property is in the most idyllic situation and has in the past been painted by several great artists. This is not a frightfully smart property and in places is certainly showing its age but to compensate for that there is the amazing wild life with otters and badgers nearby.  The river birds abound and to name a few there are dippers, kingfishers, wagtails, herons and even an Osprey has been seen.  The Mill is only 1.5 miles from the villages of Llangynidr and Bwlch, with good pubs and the village post office and stores.  FLY FISHING can be arranged on discussion with the owner for 2 rods (bring your own) on the Mill's 200 yards of double bank fishing and 200 yards of single bank fishing. A fishing licence is required. Some excellent TROUT AND SALMON pools are on this beautiful stretch of The River Usk, rod boxes are outside the Mill.   The house has a SKY SPORT package too for those who would rather watch than participate!   Young children must be kept under close supervision at all times.

To get an idea of what a gorgeous position the cottage is in, have a look at this film which was made by a guest - thanks to Darren Butterworth.

Cottage Accommodation

Sleeps 10, 5 bedrooms. The kitchen is equipped with a built-in electric cooker, gas hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, pine table with chairs. A multi-purpose tackle/utility/drying/boot room with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink. Downstairs cloakroom with handbasin and toilet. The large sitting room is long with 18th century wood panelling with great oak beams open to the ceiling,  at one end the original fireplace features a woodburning stove with comfortable sofas and chairs around.  A room with a table tennis table. There is an 8ft snooker table on a slate bed, a piano, an organ, Hi-Fi, and a long narrow refectory dining table and benches. Where the waterwheel used to be there is now a "look-out" window, which hangs right out over the water - and it has been known for trout to be caught on a line out of the window! There is a further sitting room with sofa and chairs, SKY sports package TV and DVD player. An ideal spot to in the window and watch the wildlife or, when the river is in full spate and roaring down below you, to suddenly see a canoeist shooting the rapids.

Downstairs there are four bedrooms:

Bedroom 1: double bedroom

Bedroom 2: double bedroom

Bedroom 3: twin bedrooms

Bedroom 4: twin bedroom

Bathroom with bath, shower, handbasin and toilet.

Upstairs to

Bedroom 5: spacious double bedroom with en suite bathroom with a bath, handbasin, toilet and bidet.

From many of the rooms there are the most fabulous views straight over the river to the rocky falls.

Useful information

Bedlinen logs are provided. No Towels. Oil central heating and electricity No mobile reception - payphone available Fishing available No Fireworks due to the proximity of Livestock There is a long, well kept garden and a pond. There is a gate which provides access to walks over the adjoining meadow. There are 11 acres of land.

I would not recommend this house for young children unless very strictly supervised, or the elderly or infirm as the river is in such close proximity even though the garden is safely fenced off and the driveway is steep. Pets welcome. Payphone.  Sorry, mobile reception is bad. Four wheel drives needed in the rare event of snow. Sorry, no stag or hen parties.

The Property is at slight risk of flooding; it last did so over 30 years ago. Should the Environment Agency issue a Severe Flood Warning for this section of the river Usk, visitors should leave the premises. In such an event an appropriate refund will be given.

Brecon 8 miles, Crickhowell 8 miles.
