Description

This spectacular Baronial Castle, seated in the ruins of a much earlier edition dating back to the 1300’s is available to let on an exclusive use, fully catered basis.  Located on the south west coast of Scotland its position is ideal for those travelling afar, being an hour’s drive from Glasgow airport and the main transport networks.  Surrounded by 200 acres of parkland, you’re guaranteed to enjoy plenty of outdoor space, where privacy is paramount.

Since changing hands in 2012, it has been sensitively and richly refurbished, updated to excellent standards for modern living and achieved a 5 star grading by Visit Scotland in 2014.  The castle can accommodate 30 guests comfortably in 15 bedrooms.  Its principle rooms are all of great proportions and include a great hall with atrium, drawing room, music room, library and dining room.  Fully staffed, the owners ensure guests are made to feel the castle is their home from home, during the course of their stay.

Whether you’re gathering a group of old friends for a reunion, holding a corporate team building event, hosting a milestone birthday or taking the family away for a once in a lifetime Christmas, this is a truly magical spot in the south-western corner of Scotland.

Please note this is a fully serviced venue only, let on an exclusive use basis for up to 30 guests.

  • Guests can make use of four grand reception rooms all located on the ground floor with original lavish features and a large collection of fine arts displayed throughout.

    The Saloon

Guests enter via a Great Hall, known as the Saloon, which is as large as it sounds.  Often used for intimate wedding ceremonies and drinks receptions it’s an impressively sized room, with atrium from which you can look down on proceedings from the first floor landing.

    Drawing rooms

The two formal drawing rooms which interconnect have high ceilings, with chandeliers and are furnished in keeping with the style of the house.  Floor to ceiling sash windows draw in plenty of natural light and assorted good quality seating allows groups to gather in comfort.  A grand piano provides plenty of entertainment for the musically minded.

    Library

The library is as it suggests, is again a room of good proportions lined with mahogany bookcases.  Three large comfortable leather sofas and an open fire provide a quiet space for reading the paper, catching up on a spot of work or simply enjoying the company of others in a smaller breakout group.

  • All bedrooms are of a generous size and kitted out with all the modern amenities one might find need of when away from home, from hairdryers, to dressing robes as well as a range of toiletries in the bathrooms.  The bed linen is all of supreme quality and there's no need to make the bed in the morning, the housekeeping staff provide a turndown service which will ensure a comfortable night’s sleep!
