Renowned for its magnificent floral displays, the town is a many time winner of the Britain and Scotland in Bloom awards. With the shores of the Firth to the south, the River Averon running through the town, and the highland hills rising to the north, the town is well placed for exploring the landscapes of the Highlands. If on foot, walk the Fyrish lands, and discover the Fyrish Monument, built in 1782. The Dalmore distillery welcomes visitors, and you can join a tour and taste a dram! Alness Golf Course offers 18 holes with fantastic views over the Firth and surrounding countryside.
