Amazing and spacious house with everything we needed for a work weekend away. The host was brilliant and phoned to see if we knew everything we needed to before travelling.

Glad to hear you liked the house. We think the owner is brilliant too! She's always there offering help when needed.

Great service and they were very quick in responding.
The house was amazing and perfect for our work weekend away.

So pleased to hear your 'team building' weekend went well and we look forward to helping you with your next event!

For the 15 members of the Snifters Whisky Society, this was the perfect location and accomodation. A real Shooting Lodge with a Tasting room, a relaxing room, a room with a poolbiljart, great kitchen and a lot of bathrooms.

The only (minor) complaint is that the showers did surprise you with to hot or to cold water...

Thrilled to hear you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the water pressure can be problematic when everyone's trying to use the facilities at once and the owner is looking into affordable solutions to this problem. I'm glad to hear it didn't detract from your overall enjoyment of the property and its location.

I didn't need to think of anything. Scotts Castles manages everything for you and signals you when you need to do or know anything.

Thanks for the lovely feedback. We try our best to pre-empt customer needs so it was nice to hear you found us helpful.

The place was huge. We got a full tour by the owners kids. Had 9 blokes in there 30's in stitches laughing. Left us to it then but always on hand if needed. Facilities were fantastic. A home away from home, apart from the stunning woodland, snow and mountains that surrounded it. A fantatic hill walk from behind the house that the owner recommended and a 5 minute drive to Dalwhinnie Distillery. Also theres stags and deer literally everywhere. Didnt want to go home

This review will continue to make people smile we can assure you, it’s so lovely to hear you had a great time and were well looked after. It sounds like your holiday was topped off by the appearance of some of the local residents as well which is always a bonus!

Please let us know if we can be of assistance in the future, we’d love to help and we also offer a loyalty discount to our returning Scotts guests so don’t forget to mention this next time you book with us.

Thanks again for your review.

Fantastic service and constantly kept me updated via email and provided even travel information due to the weather. Fantastic friendly company

We do like to make our guests lives a little easier if we can, it leaves more room for making more happy memories - so we’re pleased to hear you found our service fantastic! Thanks very much for sending us your thoughts.

Generally the property was ideal for our group of 7 couples gathered for a re-union. The large dining room and comfortable sitting room were much appreciated. The only negative was the performance of the showers. It was often not possible to control the temperature of one shower because the water pressure was being affected by use of another shower. Apparently the problem relates to the water supply not working from a main but from a header tank.

Great to hear that you found the house suited your group of 14 for the re-union, having visited myself I totally agree the sitting room and dining area is very comfortable for large groups.

Often this is one of the quirks of a larger property, however we will certainly pass your comments on for review, regarding the water pressure.

Great that you're already considering options for 2018 with us, we hope we may be able to help with another memorable trip.

Yes - would recommend to others. Friendly helpful service at all times.

Thank you for your comments, we are pleased you found the service helpful and friendly!

Lovely period house, slightly let down by a few too many niggles.

The setting is lovely, with handy walks from the doorstep, and all the attractions of Speyside right there - Highland Wildlife park, Landmark centre, Highland Folk Museum, distilleries, Shinty matches on Saturdays, and many more. It's a great location.

The house has a charming character, with high ceilings, quirky rooms and some lovely period furniture. The kitchen is well equipped, and there is plenty of table space for pretty much the whole household to eat in there, which is just as well as it's a long walk to the dining room! The sitting room is snug, and the playroom with pool table handy for whiling away rainy days. The bedrooms are all fairly spacious, and there are plenty of bathrooms to go with them, but that's where it starts to go wrong. The plumbing just can't cope with all the guests the house can hold, so only one of the many electric showers can be used at once. There are baths aplenty too, but when you are hurrying to all get out in the morning it's a bit of a drag. And it gives you more time to contemplate the peaty water - it's like bathing in tea! The upside is that without lots of showers, you don't notice the lack of extractor fans so much.

The lighting is also a bit patchy, with only about 50% of the light fittings actually sporting working bulbs, though the property manager (who lives just next door) was quick to fix the ones we pointed out. If I was to be really picky I'd also ask for an extractor over the hob, and a second dish-washer in the kitchen. The whole place could do with a lick of paint, too, and new windows - it all feels a bit tired.

All in all, there's lots of potential, but it's not quite there. We visited for a family double-birthday in the summer, and it served very well for 18 of us who were mostly out on trips. We enjoyed our stay, but had we been visiting in the winter, or with poor weather requiring more time in the house, the niggles might well have turned it from 3 stars to 2.

Many thanks for taking the time to get in touch with your feedback for the stay – much appreciated and our property team have forwarded on to the owner of the lodge for review.

As you say, due to the age of this Edwardian building there are a few quirks, its lovely to hear that overall you found the location perfect for your trip and the lodge well equipped & spacious. Glad that the owner of the property was also able to help swiftly with replacing the light bulbs.

They were very helpful in handling a request for a non-standard booking time.
Finding properties is easy.

After booking, though, their website is hard to use. I always had to search for my login credentials, rather than being able to use my email address to login. And when the property was taken off future bookings some time after we had booked it, it disappeared and couldn't be viewed!

Thanks so much for the great review for our service, glad that we were able to help with your family get together. To access your online account, the log in details are provided on your holiday paperwork but we are also very happy to help with any queries or accept payments over the phone if more convenient.

After your booking was made the owner of the lodge did advise us of a change to their availability so the property was withdrawn from our online portfolio, sorry if this caused any confusion and we hope the info we provided was helpful with making your plans for the big trip!

We had a lovely family Christmas at the Lodge. There were a few hiccups with sky tv and the oven but Cheryl went to great lengths to fix these problems to ensure our stay was good. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment and had a great selection of serving dishes. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. Thank you Cheryl

Perfect for us. Bit chilly in the kitchen and wee dining room but rest of the house was toasty. Could maybe do with firewood being seasoned as stove struggled to get going and green wood not good for stove or chimney. Care taker could not have been more helpful. Great location if party members coming from different directions.

Friendly & efficient

lodge was generally clean and well stocked ,however the lodge itself is quite tired ,window in my room was held together by gaffer tape ,not good ,but in fairness it was the original glass...,my room was marginally cold and the general feeling of th enlace was draughty. In saying all this it did fit the bill

Thanks for your feedback, it sounds like your group had a good time. We have spoken with the owner who offers her sincere apologies for the temporary window repair, unfortunately the glass was cracked by a bird strike prior to your arrival and they were awaiting a specialist repairer to visit.

They welcome feedback and are on site to help with any issues such as heating etc clients may have, it is their first season at the lodge and they have an ongoing plan of improvements in place and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

The Lodge itself was the perfect size for our mixed family group. However, aspects of the Lodge were tired and better cooking equipment is definitely required I.e. The catch on the oven door was broken, the kettle leaked when pouring water from it, fridges were not large enough to cater for 14.

It could also do with some additional outside seating, as there was only enough room for 8 people to sit at one time.

Locks on bathroom doors would also be a great addition.

It would have been to have more than one key to the property - although we didn't ask for more - so possibly this could have been easily sorted.

Instructions for the emptying of bins would have been good. Recycling facilities were excellent.

Mrs Irons and her family were very friendly and welcoming.

Thank you for your feedback. The owners welcome all suggestions regarding improvements, including these that they have now read, and as this is their first season they are working their way to making improvements. We are glad to hear that the house fitted your requirements and that the service at Scotts Castle Holidays was to your liking, and look forward to welcomeing you back in the future.

Warm, comfortable, brilliant highland weather! perhaps a little short of cooking equipment for a large grown up party which likes cooking and a shame the Aga was not working. But it is a great house for a walking holiday. Amongst the best of the 30 or so of the large Easter holiday houses we have taken over the years.

So pleased you found our service helpful and we would be delighted to assist again in the future - thank you for leaving feedback!
