Description

Let your jaw drop at the majestic backdrop and an exquisitely remote spot on Scotland's west coast. Then wonder how you'll leave at all when you see what touches are inside to entertain you all.

With a stunning mountain backdrop, this delightful large holiday home sits in three acres of mature grounds on the edge of the magnificent Ardgour peninsula, making this the perfect location to explore the untouched landscape of the Scottish Highlands, with its breathtaking scenery set close to Loch Linnhe.

This holiday lodge, purpose built in 2003, has a modern look and accommodates 8 people in 4 bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms and two with en-suite shower rooms, and there is an additional sofa bed in the games room, sleeping a further 2 children if required. The property also benefits from an indoor heated swimming pool (8 metres by 4 metres), sauna and a games room with a pool table.

  • Reception Rooms
To the front of the house is the traditional sitting room with open fire and TV, with views out to the front. With comfortable seating, this is just the room you need to kick back and relax after a long day’s hiking or touring. The other front room is the games room with table football table and pool table, as well as a sofa-bed if required.

    Swimming Pool

Then to the side of the house, is a sauna and the indoor swimming pool (8 metres by 4 metres), where the pool temperature is set between 26 – 29 degrees centigrade, though this will dip if the guidelines on replacing the cover whilst not in use are not kept. This is ideal for all the family.

    Kitchen & Dining
The dining section is situated to the rear of the main hall and stairs, forming a dining hall, within a bay window, which brings in great light here. The table seats up to 10 people and is located next to the compact but well equipped kitchen. With a stainless steel cooking range, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer/dryer – there is everything you would expect to cater for your holiday requirements.

  • Accommodation is provided for a group of 8 adults and 2 children in 4 bedrooms, with 2 bathrooms and 3 shower rooms, as follows:

    • 2 Double Bedroom/s With Ensuite Bathroom
    • 2 Twin Bedroom/s With Ensuite Shower Room
    First Floor
Bed1, Double, with en-suite bathroom, with bath with shower over, bidet, w.c and wash hand basin (a pull-out bed for a child under 12 is available for this room)

Bed 2, Double, with en-suite bathroom, with bath with shower over, bidet, w.c and wash hand basin (a pull-out bed for a child under 12 is available for this room)
Bed 3, Twin, with en-suite shower room, with shower cabinet, bidet, w.c and wash hand basin
Bed 4, Twin, with en-suite shower room, with shower cabinet, bidet, w.c and wash hand basin

  • Set within a few acres of wild woodland, there is plenty of parking to the front and side of the house for all the cars. Located on the Ardgour peninsula, 12 miles south west of Fort William, it is accessible by ferry which is a short 5 minute journey across Loch Linnhe. Please note that the short driveway to the house is prone to potholes, even though there is a continuous effort to keep it maintained.

The nearest pub would be the Inn at Ardgour. For shopping, then a trip to Fort William is required where there is a major supermarket. Activities in the area include sea fishing and walking, whilst Fort William is known as the “outdoor capital of Scotland”, with Ben Nevis and Glencoe resorts within easy reach. Ben Nevis distillery can be found in Fort William.

  • GROUP TYPES
Stag and Hen bookings may not book this property, unless discussed in advance for approval. Neither the Owner nor the Agent will accept any liability should a booking be confirmed as a consequence of non-disclosure of the above which may later result in a booking cancellation by the Owner. SWIMMING POOL
Please be aware that in general, the swimming pool temperature is set between 26 – 29 degrees centigrade, and this will dip if the guidelines on replacing the cover whilst not in use are not kept. Please note that solid fuel for the fire is not included within the rental, but can be purchased at the village store, half a mile from the house.

The house was lovely. Big enough for everyone, kitchen was well equipped. Games room was well used, and the pool was fantastic. Everybody enjoyed themselves. And the location is superb! Cant thank you enough. We will definately be returning.

It’s wonderful that you and your family had a fantastic time at the house. I will pass your comments to the Owners who I am sure will be delighted to hear this too. Don’t forget to mention you have booked with us this time as we offer a loyalty discount to our returning Scotts guests – T&Cs apply. Thank you once again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Everything was very easy. They called and responded to emails very quickly. It feels like a personal service rather than a big call center.

Thank you for your kind review, it’s great to hear you found the process easy. We are a small company and we do our best to tailor your needs as individually as possible.  We would be delighted to help again in the future.

Overall we were very happy with the holiday home and it was exactly as described. Location is amazing and kids loved the swimming pool which is nice and warm, There are a few small maintenance issues that need to be addressed by the owners, but nothing enough to spoil our holiday.

It was lovely to speak with you following your holiday in Fort William and so glad to hear the lodge was all you hoped for. We agree… the indoor pool is a fantastic feature and sure to keep the younger ones happy!

Following your review we have spoken with the owner to pass on your comments so that they may address the maintenance issues you have mentioned. The owners are also very happy for guests to make contact during the holiday if any small issues do crop up, and their details are provided in the visitor handbook on site.

Staff are really helpful.

Many thanks for taking the time to pass on your feedback and glad you found our team helpful. Don't forget to follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with special offers and inspiration for future trips!

There was no wifi and jacuzzi didn't work. We were also asked to vacuum before departure. Whilst this is something we would do out of courtesy, it is not something we feel we should have been expected to do. Particularly given the cost of the property and expectation that it is cleaned by cleaners after every stay.
Property itself was very nice, great location, ideal size and good facilities.

Thank you for your feedback. I can confirm there is no WIFI and no jacuzzi, and neither are advertised. However, there is actually a spa, though we do not advertise this either, and the instructions are in the Visitor Information Manual. If there were any problems operating this then it is always advised to make contact with the housekeeper who would advise accordingly during your stay. Each property has guidelines for your own safety and enjoyment, which vary property to property. With regard to the cost of the venue, bearing in mind that a premium is applied as it houses a private indoor pool it still offers remarkable value at certain times of the year when compared to other venues without a pool. Your comment of it being a nice property in a great location of an ideal size with good facilities certainly sums it up well, and we look forward to assisting you in the future.

We had a lovely family holiday exploring the Ardgour Peninsula and staying in the spacious well equipped Allt An Ailean which also had the added bonus of an indoor pool and Sauna. The excitement started when we boarded the car ferry at Corran to take us over stunning Loch Linhnhe and built as we traversed the private road leading to our holiday home. The property is set in a lovely location and is well placed for exploring the peninsula and of course Glen Coe, Ben Nevis and Fort William. We had beautiful weather which showed off the surrounding mountains in all their glory.

Thank you for your feedback, pleased to hear you all had a fantastic holiday exploring this beautiful part of the West Coast and glad that the sunshine made it possible for you to really make the most of local area.

Scotts Castle holidays were extremely helpful from the beginning and I highly recommend them.

Thanks for your lovely comments, great that you found our service helpful and that we could help with your holiday plans to visit Scotland!

In truth my rating is probably somewhere between good and poor.
Positives: The house itself was in a lovely location and had a good layout. With three children with us, we particularly enjoyed the games room and swimming pool.
Negatives: It wasn't as clean as we expected and looked a bit neglected e.g. filthy microwave, peeling paint, damp patches in bathrooms, ancient TV.
The information in the property was basically a rulebook of dos and don'ts with a scale of fees and charges which would be applied if we failed to put the rubbish in the correct bin, vacuum before leaving, break anything etc - not exactly welcoming! The phone number for the caretaker was blacked out of the information folder, so if there was a problem, we would have been unable to contact him/her.
The pool and spa pool had loose bits and sharp edges in the bottom on which two of the children cut their feet (Very dangerous. If there had been a visitor book of any kind or, indeed, a phone number for the caretaker, I would have left a message about this as I do feel it needs to be looked at as a matter of urgency).
All in all, we enjoyed our break but wouldn't return to the property.

Thank you for your feedback. A full on-site review is being carried out later this month and your comments have been noted and will form part of the inspection - so improvements can be made if required. In fact if you have any other details regarding the whereabouts of any sharp edges in the swimming pool, please contact the Property Dept - and it can be drained and dealt with immediately. Everyone booking with Scotts Castle Holidays always get the contact details of the housekeeper or owner, and if need be can contact the agency during their stay to discuss any matter that may need resolving. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with us if we can help with any future trips and remember to claim your loyalty discount next time

Whilst we had a wonderful stay the house was very basic and needs updating. It lacked in some creature comforts. And does need a modernisation. With a little bit more thought toward attention to detail it would be a very pleasant house. Sadly also the pages of rules in the welcome book ironically felt unwelcoming. The pool/sauna and games room are fantastic and the setting very majestic brilliant place for tranquil walks.

Thank you for this review and I am glad to hear you had a wonderful stay at the house. Whilst your comments have been forwarded for appraisal, a renovation programme is currently in place in January, though the general standards will remain as before and it will remain a purpose built holiday house as advertised. We appreciate the time taken to inform us of your thoughts following your stay, as it is only with customer feedback that we can improve our service. Thank you.

We had a fabulous time, beautiful setting, lovely, spacious house, nice swimming pool and sauna and great games room for the kids. Beds could have been a bit more comfortable but by the time we got to sleep we didn't care.
