Description

Be part of the 400 year history of this beautiful castle by staying in this stunning apartment and you too can be the laird of all you survey for the duration of your vacation

Steeped in history and dating back to 1567, this rose-coloured, turreted castle with ties to Robert the Bruce is set within its own substantial grounds, of mixed parkland and woodland in the northern coastline of Scotland.  'The Lairds Wing', a substantial apartment within the castle accomodating a group of up to 14 guests, is set over three floors enjoying private access to and from this unique holiday home on its north side.

Fine art, antique furniture and centuries of history make this huge apartment a splendid place to celebrate family occasions or spoil your visiting guests. This fine holiday home has been furnished and fitted out to comfortable period home standard.  There's no better place to experience the life of a contemporary Laird than in this castle to stay in Scotland.

  • Please note
  • There are three entrances to the castle, by the side, rear courtyard and inner entrance near the café. Whichever entrance you take, they all lead to the main hall and the impressive stairwell.

With a dining/kitchen and separate dining room at ground level, the elegant drawing room with delightful views to the east over the walled garden is located on the first floor. It's a comfortable room filled with fine furniture and period pictures relating to the history of the castle.

There's also a galley kitchen next door, making it more convenient, to enjoy drinks in the drawing room, whilst the children can be entertained in the TV room, which is further along the corridor.

Both the dining room and kitchen are to be found at ground level, next door to each other. The dining room is a very elegant room, decorated with portraits on the wall and with matching table and chairs, where all 14 people can dine in great comfort and style.

The kitchen is large in size, coupling up as a kitchen and a breakfast room. Very stylish and well equipped, the large range cooker is ideal for cooking for the group size. With plenty of work surfaces and storage, there is plenty of space to prepare all the meals required. A table in the kitchen can seat up to 8 people, allowing you to stagger breakfast in the morning or for catering for smaller groups.

The property was good and well equipped except for some missing champagne glasses which were missing even after the owners assured us that there was a full complement.
There was also a problem with the heating system cutting out, this fault was temporarily repaired but still exists when we left.

Many thanks for your feedback. We are pleased you found our service and website helpful. A report has been sent to the castle for a review to improve the service in future. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can help with any future holiday plans to Scotland and we will be happy to assist!
