Description

If you are looking for a large house in the country, with character and privacy, then this magnificent Arts and Crafts house will fit the bill.

A classic “Arts and Craft” movement house dating back to 1916, this property is a fantastic large holiday home for friends and family alike to relax and unwind or explore the moors of Moray. Situated on a 2,500 acre estate with views across the rolling moors, this property provides excellent accommodation ideal for exploring the Morayshire region of the Scottish Highlands and is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and family gatherings alike.

The reception rooms include a drawing room, sitting room, sun room and a cosy dining room. The country style kitchen has excellent storage capacity with larder and pantry. The 9 bedrooms sleep up to 17 guests in comfort, with 8 double rooms and 1 single bedroom. With private drive, manicured lawn to front and feature Yew bush at the courtyard entrance, there is also ample parking for your group. Whilst it books Saturday - Saturday, there is flexibility in booking dates, subject to availability.

  • Reception Rooms
On entering via the lovely arched sandstone entrance and inner hall, there is a long corridor, resplendent with stag’s heads, which runs the length of the building. To the front of the building are the reception rooms, which include the drawing room, sitting room and sun room, which all adjoin each other. The drawing room has comfortable seating and an open fire, making this room an ideal setting to gather as a group. The rooms are connected via sliding doors and the sitting room is next door. This room is more of a “snug” area, with glasses for drinks being stored here, as well as some comfortable seating with “mouflon” heads on the wall. From here you access the sun room, which is a wonderfully light elegant room, again with comfortable sofas and additional seating, which opens out to access the lawn to the front. Additionally there is a small TV room, which is ideal for children, albeit with a TV only without reception, but DVDs can be played.

    Kitchen & Dining
Continuing along the corridor takes you to the dining room. Here you will find an octagonal shaped room with dining table that can seat up to 17 people. With a candelabra above the table, there is a warmth about this room, as well as traditional feel of a sporting lodge. Nearby is the kitchen, which is a lodge kitchen through and through. It is function over style, and is ideal for catering for larger numbers with the double gas range with 8 hobs, as well as 2 dishwashers. There is a table and chairs in here to feed smaller number, otherwise it doubles up as further workspace. A large pantry and larder are to be found to the side of the kitchen for all your storage requirements. A utility room and separate drying rooms are also available.

  • Accommodation is provided for a group of 17 adults in 9 bedrooms with 4 bathrooms and 6 shower rooms, as follows:

The house was a wonderful place for our family to spend a few days. It was beautiful, in peaceful surroundings, and we had everything we needed.

Lovely to hear happy holiday stories and sounds like your family all had a great stay! This beautiful country house is perfect for a relaxing break, and its great that you found the house had everything you needed.

Scotts Castles were helpful and clear while I was booking and dealt well with queries. My only caveat is that they have not yet refunded our 'damage insurance' deposit. I know the owner was very happy with the way we left the house. I will be contacting them about this tomorrow, a whole week after we left.

Many thanks for your feedback, glad you found our service helpful and that we were able to assist with any queries along the way.

We do advise from the enquiry stage that a security deposit is payable 7 days prior to a holiday and refunded 7 days after the holiday end. Whilst the security deposit is retained for 7 days, upon request we are always very happy to contact an owner to request if the amount can be returned earlier than usual.
