With commanding views of the River Spey you’ll find it hard to beat this classic contemporary sporting lodge

Built to cater for fishing and sporting groups, this large holiday home commands impressive views over the Strathspey in Central Scotland.

Set on high ground, surrounded by woodlands to the rear and agricultural fields in front this traditional highland lodge was refurbished in 2017 and now provides comfortable, modern amenities for large groups (not limited to sporting types!) looking to enjoy a relaxing holiday in Scotland.

  • Properties of this nature, enjoy generous well-proportioned rooms providing a good level of comfort for mixed family groups of all generations. The décor throughout is classic contemporary with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities.

    You enter through the front door, into a small enclosed porch with plenty of coat hooks and storage for walking sticks. From the porch you lead into a wide hall with the main reception room (drawing room) on your right with the dining room beyond that and front staircase leading to the first floor accommodation. The floors are polished wood, with underfloor heating in the upstairs bathrooms, and scattered Persian rugs provide comfort underfoot in the main thoroughfares. 

    The drawing room provides a large, spacious living space with a bay window one end and good quality, comfortable furnishings with plenty of seating to accommodate a large group. On cold days, guests can enjoy keeping warm beside the open fire on the leather fender seat, flanked by antique occasional tables.

    Kitchen & Dining
    The dining room is a light, spacious room, with contemporary pine furniture and ornate Victorian open fire. The dining table comfortably seats the occupancy and an antique dinner gong will ensure guests move promptly in for meals!The kitchen is a large, well-lit space fitted with modern cupboards and a central island with plenty of storage space. Cooking is chiefly prepared on a four oven aga which also features a warming oven, perfect for warming plates and resting food. In addition you’ll find a wall mounted electric oven and microwave and a Belling electric hotplate oven for keeping meals hot prior to serving, sits neatly under the centre island. There’s a walk in pantry/larder with plenty of shelving for dry goods as well as two large fridges, an ice machine and microwave. 

    The kitchen also comes with two dishwashers and two sinks. Providing for groups has clearly been well considered in this large holiday let.The utility room has a washing machine, elevated drying rail, storage space and also a small downstairs loo. A large chest freezer and smaller fridge in the are situated in the utility room adjoining the kitchen

    Thinking of outsourcing the cooking?
    If you’d like to employ the services of a private cook for the week, this can easily be arranged. A cook’s quarters is also available (not included in the accommodation rental) and is a separate flat attached to the main building (with its own access), and includes a sitting room, kitchen, single bedroom and bathroom. This can be made available at additional costs for any visiting cook on request

  • Period homes of this style were built with generously proportioned principle rooms and this one is no different. All rooms enjoy wonderful views over the surrounding countryside. All are located on the first floor, accessed via a wide front staircase and run the length of the house down a long brightly lit hallway.

    There are 10 bedrooms with 5 bathrooms, accommodating up to 14 adults – in the main house section.

  • The sporting lodge is surrounded by gently sloping lawns and woodland behind. Access is via an unsealed 1 mile driveway which may be difficult for low slung vehicles to use in the winter months. There’s plenty of parking to the side and back of the building.

    The nearest town is Aberlour a small but bustling country town in the middle of the Spey Valley between Inverness and Aberdeen in the North East of Scotland. It’s flanked by the Cairngorm Mountains and the Moray Firth coastline, has plenty of independent shops and is well known for its shortbread and whisky!

    The River Spey the ninth longest river in the United Kingdom and a jewel amongst some of Scotland’s finest salmon rivers, not only for sport but also for its picturesque scenery. Anglers come from all over the world to fish here, many wanting to visit the home of the famous 'Spey cast'.

    HOUSEKEEPING
    The housekeeper will pop in on a daily basis to clean and relay the fires and attend to light housekeeping duties on behalf of the house.
