Description

If you wish to enjoy stunning Scottish scenery with family and friends in opulent comfort, then this luxury lodge is the one to provide a five star setting inside and out.

Set on a large estate surrounded by high hills with outstanding views of Loch Garry, this first class sporting lodge was designed and built to entertain the Duke of Atholl's guests in the Victorian era.  Renovated to an extremely high standard every room has been meticulously styled with comfort in mind, the interior design a mix of classic contemporary with a light Scottish theme throughout.  Period furniture and artwork marries well with modern chic furnishing.

This large holiday home has two reception rooms, a conservatory, dining room, kitchen and games room.  Significant investment has been made to cater for guest comfort, from the quality of the furniture and furnishings to the design of the large boot room with its individual coat & boot racks for each guest and underfloor heating.

The spacious bedrooms are beautifully styled, the beds dressed with high quality bed linen and the contemporary bathrooms feel brand new.  Attention to detail can be seen wherever you travel through this exceptional holiday home, from the fully equipped and well ordered kitchen to the quality of toiletries in the bathrooms and bottles of water beside each guests bed.

If you're looking for five star luxury in the central belt of Scotland, on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park you'll not go wrong choosing this place for your next holiday.

  • Please note
  • The large drawing room is such a size that it has two distinctive areas. The main section with an open fire is surrounded by a large over-stuffed comfortable sofa and additional armchairs, whilst there is also an area by the bay window with views to the front. This room then leads into the conservatory with rattan furniture with exceptional views looking down the glen across to the water. Next door is a further sitting room, again with a comfortable sofa, flat-screen TV and an open fire, with a bar area off it. Out in the main hall, there is a pleasant reception area, with access from the lobby going to to a large cloakroom, where boots and coats can be stored. Additionally there is a tartan-clad games room with a ¾ size snooker table, with seating and an open fire.

The dining room is a sumptuous elegant room, with a long table and comfortable chairs, seating 12-16 people in comfort and style. An open fire at one end and views looking down the glen, all add up to the type of room one dreams of in a shooting lodge. Additionally in the summer months, breakfasting could take place in the conservatory for smaller groups of 6 round one of the rattan tables.

The kitchen is modern and very well equipped, with a large range cooker with gas hobs and electric ovens. With a work island and work top space, there is plenty of space to cook in style for this number. An additional larder is next door for further food storage and there is easy access in and out of the kitchen via the back door.

  • All the bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the floor above and are immaculately presented, with 5 bedrooms with super king size double beds with en-suite bathrooms and a twin-bedded room with its own designated bathroom.

    Bedroom no 1, with super king size double bed, with an en-suite bathroom, with bath with shower attachment, separate shower cabinet, w.c and wash hand basin;

    The Cottage

Bedroom no 7: super king size double bed with en-suite shower room

Bedroom no 8: super king size double bed with en-suite shower room

The cottage has its own small galley kitchen and sitting room. It has been styled in much the same way as the main house and to the same quality.  It's located further along the driveway discreetly tucked in front of a stone shed and also enjoys views over Loch Garry.  It's a short walk to the main house.

  • Forming part of a 60,000 acre estate, it is accessed off the main A9, Inverness – Perth route, via a railway crossing, to a rural setting with a cluster of estate cottages beside the main lodge which enjoys impressive expansive views over the glen. Situated between Dalwhinnie (8 miles) and Blair Atholl (16 miles), the nearest supermarket is located in Newtonmore (18 miles).

There are great walks in the area including the walk by Loch Garry. Fishing for trout is available locally. Dalwhinnie Distillery is always a popular outing.

Nearby is Blair Castle and the Atholl Estate, which offers as extra, a Ranger service and additional activities, like pony trekking and guided land rover tours. For golfers the nearest golf courses are at Blair Atholl and Newtonmore. The House of Bruar emporium is close-by for more upmarket shopping.

Be prepared to be blown away by the scale and grandeur of this property.
Scott’s Castles were really easy to book with. We received really useful emails in advance with directions, reminders of things we needed to know and general reminders of the upcoming holiday and contact details of the caretaker & handyman. Altogether a great customer experience!

So glad to hear you had a wonderful time, we thought we'd share your comments again on this page as well. It's one of our favourite spots! Hopefully, we might tempt you back one day!

Excellent property for group if 10 over XMAS. Beautifully appointed, warm and comfortable, very well prepared by fantastic housekeeper and her partner. We went for walks around the property which is extensive.

In winter, I think you should suggest to renters that a four wheel drive vehicle may be a good option, as we struggled to get out of the property onto the main road due to snow. But please note, if we needed to get out, the housekeeper's family cleared the road and at one point, towed us out using a tractor! So 4WD is a nice to have not an essential

Fabulous to hear you had a excellent Christmas holiday at this luxurious lodge finding it warm and comfortable. Sounds like you also made the most of the extensive grounds too, enjoying winter walks.

Obviously adverse weather conditions can't be helped but all owners do their best to keep the roads as clear as possible,  perfect to hear that the housekeeper was able to assist with the access to the property throughout your stay. Thank you for your feedback, we shall certainly bare this in mind for future Winter guests.

Good communication from Scotts Castle team

Great to hear! We look forward to helping with any future trips on the cards.
