Description

Staying at this family-friendly holiday house on the outskirts of Aberfeldy is a wonderful experience, the equivalent of finding a Tay pearl as it is a hidden gem.

This large holiday home is a superb example of an Arts and Crafts designed townhouse, situated in a quiet residential street on the outskirts of Aberfeldy, with spectacular views overlooking the river Tay. Well presented, with original features such as stained glass windows, roll top baths and large bay windows it is a comfortable, stylish holiday home.  The house sleeps up to 11 people in its 5 bedrooms, each of which is traditionally maintained.

  • Please note
  • The owners have been very careful to sympathetically furnish and restore this property in its original style, and their attention to detail has received much accolade from past guests. Many of the original features have been maintained like the ornate ceiling plasterwork and wooden panelling in the sitting room. It's difficult to get pictures to convey what it feels like to walk into a historic home like this, where everything has been carefully curated yet designed with guest comfort in mind.

    Reception Rooms
Access to the property is via a private gravelled driveway bordered by hedges and a fence for privacy. The front door leads into a large hall off which the main reception rooms are located.

The double sided staircase is a favourite with children, under which the owners have left a trunk full of wonderful dressing up clothes. A comfortable leather armchair sits beside a wood burning stove, just the spot to snuggle up and read a book. What was once the music room is now a TV room come snug, although there is still an upright piano in situ along with other musical instruments available for you to play.

    Kitchen & Dining
The dining room has a traditional Edwardian feel, with William Morris style wallpaper, parquet flooring and feature wooden bay window. It is an ideal size to entertain all your guests in comfort and style around the dining table. The owners have left a gramophone and plenty of vinyl records for guests to enjoy as well as a range of local whisky to sample on the sideboard.

Situated with a galley kitchen next door, with the kitchen on the other side, it is easy to serve straight to the dining table. The kitchen is well equipped with an electric hob and integral oven and separate microwave. With plenty of wall units for storage and work space for working, it is a good kitchen for working in.

Wonderful original period features. Great setting.

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like you all had a great time for the celebratory trip and we hope to welcome you back again in the near future.

Superb in all aspects. One small criticism is that I found the bed to be a bit short. I am 5'11" so not exactly tall.

Thank you for your comments, we will ensure these are passed on. We're delighted you rated the house as superb!

The location if this house is ideal for exploring this part of Scotland, being close to Aberfeldy shopping and a variety of activity centres such as the Birks, Dewers, the Highland Safari Centre, the Cranog Centre and boating and horse riding facilities.
The house is very large with large rooms furnished interestingly and appropriately for such an unusual home. It is surprisingly good for children with large baskets of toys and dressing-up clothes under the double staircase. The garden at the back of the house is large and the summerhouse has games equipment and garden furniture.
We didn't use the kitchen facilities much but it is so well equipped that a keen chef could cook pretty much anything there.
The only downside is that a very tall persin might have difficulty finding a bed long enough.
The house is an experience itself as well as being a good base to see Scotland.

Glad to hear you found the central location of this house was perfect for your trip to Scotland. All feedback is very much appreciated and it sounds like this beautiful house and all the lovely extra touches were perfect for your family!

Very smooth, friendly and efficient. The booking was made with the minimum of fuss, good instructions for getting there and timely reminders for payment deadlines. It would have been excellent if my security deposit hadn't taken so long to be returned to me.

Many thanks for your feedback, and great to hear you found our service helpful and informative. We appreciate your comments regarding the security deposit, whilst owners requirements are advised at enquiry stage we are always happy to contact them to discuss an early return where possible, please do not hesitate to contact us regarding this should you book again, we look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Fantastic house and had a fantastic time, all my family together under one roof to celebrate my 60th birthday. The house is gorgeous and in a very good location. The kitchen was very well stocked with both crockery and utensils. The furnishings were very good also and you could see a lot of care had been taken to make it so.
There was only one criticism and we all agreed on it, the wooden sofa in the sitting room was very uncomfortable, the one in the music room was much better. It made it difficult for the 9 of us to sit together. Having said that we would all go back again any time, it is well worth a visit and is a unique house and experience, with lots of nice touches, like the toy box and dressing up box. The owners made you feel at home and the whole atmosphere was cosy and friendly.

Sounds like you had a lovely birthday celebration in this beautiful Arts and Crafts holiday house! All feedback is appreciated, and if you would like to re book for your next family holiday please don’t hesitate to get back in touch with us.

Had trouble with the navigating web site (I am used to doing such things...normally). I had to ring them up and found them very helpful on the phone.

Thank you for your lovely feedback, glad you found our service helpful and we are always very happy to assist over the telephone with online searches, bookings or payments.

Extremely enjoyable. Well equipped and comfortable. Felt more like returning to a relative's home than going to an unknown place for the first time. Lots of personal touches kept both adults and kids (aged 5 - 11) amused. Tried hard to come up with a suggested improvement, but failed dismally. Wouldn't change anything. Hope to go back again.
