Rothesay, the main town on the island is an attractive Victorian seaside resort, and can be found on the east of the island. Here the traditional esplanade and beautiful gardens of the town make it a stunning location. The Isle of Bute Discovery Centre contains a wealth of information about the island, and can be found in the beautifully restored iron and glass building in the town. The centre is complete with multi-media exhibitions, introducing you to the best of the island. 

The spectacular ruins of Rothesay Castle are worth visiting, once occupied by Robert the Bruce and later Cromwell, the ruins hide a rich Scottish history. And lastly before you go home, take a visit to Mount Stuart. This magnificent country manor house is an exemplary example of Gothic Revival architecture and Victorian engineering, and with 300 acres of grounds, an adventure playground and picnic area, is an enjoyable family day out.
