      • 5 Star venue

Filming took place for the Bond film Skyfall on the small road to the lodge, and any image of Bond, M and an Aston Martin is a great way to get a holiday started.

This 5 star luxury venue, hidden away in the Scottish countryside of Glen Coe and Glen Etive, is a traditional Victorian country house, filled with fine art and fabulous furnishings, offering the ultimate getaway in Scotland on an exclusive use basis. Set-up to accommodate 14 adults within 7 bedrooms with 7 bathrooms, this is a sporting lodge that was originally built in 1884 to entertain guests in the Victorian era and has been refurbished in recent times to entertain in comfort and style for today’s discerning guest.

Tastefully decorated throughout to the highest standard, you will discover a touch of tartan and a touch of the traditional throughout the house, as well as the ubiquitous stag’s heads on the walls. Set in 13,000 acres of estate, surrounded by high hills and with the river Etive nearby, it remains a private setting within its own policies with outstanding views. Access to the walled garden is a delight on sunny days. This is the ideal venue for an upmarket family break or just to gather a group of friends in a stunning environment where the catering is done for you. All bookings include the services of a housekeeper and the services of a professional cook for the duration of your stay, whilst food is charged at cost (with consultation with the cook regarding your requirements).

  • Reception Rooms

The large drawing room is such a size that it has two distinctive areas. The main section with an open fire is surrounded by three elegant sofas and additional armchairs close to the bay window which looks across the glen. A telescope is provided to see the stags on the opposite hill. To the rear of the room are further sofas and armchairs and this provides secondary seating for a large group or an area where cards can be played. Out in the main hall, there is a large reception area, with a snug area for quieter reflection and a central area with two large sofas in front of another open fire, making this the meeting place for guests to discuss the day ahead. A boot room and a drying room are available for storage and drying clothes. Up on the second floor, there is a large landing space which has comfortable seating around a TV, which is ideal for younger members of the group. Whilst there is no TV reception, a DVD player and a selection of DVDs are available. Beyond is a library, which houses a selection of books, board games and Scalextrics tracks and vehicles.

    Kitchen & Dining
The dining room is equally as large as the drawing room and similarly in two distinct areas. The main section houses the impressive dining table that can seat up to 14 adults and is a fine traditional dining area, which is superb for dining in style. Then there is an area where a breakfast table can seat up to 6 people, which is perfect if your group is smaller or if breakfasts are being staggered. In the large modern kitchen, there is a work-island with seating for 4 people on bar stools or there is an additional table and benches to seat 6 people for simple suppers or cosy breakfasts. The kitchen itself is fitted with Gaggenau products, an instant hot tap, and is the domain of the cook that is provided with the booking, where guests are welcome at all times. Like most shooting lodges, there are larders, pantries and plenty of freezers for storage of food.

  • Accommodation is provided for a group of 14 adults in 7 bedrooms with 6 bathrooms and 1 shower room, as follows:

  • Set within approximately 50 acres of enclosed private grounds with further screening at the road side, which is a good distance away from the house, access is via the short drive that takes you down to the country house. The estate itself is 13,000 acres and includes many mountains, the river Etive and access onto Loch Etive. The estate has a number of boats to hire (with a boatman) for use on Loch Etive. You could try your hand at fishing for trout and mackerel from one of the smaller solid hull motor boats. The more adventurous might prefer an exhilarating ride down the loch on the 150 horse-power Ribeye 650 motor boat, perhaps stopping for a barbeque or picnic on one of the loch beaches. There is a walled garden and croquet can be played in the summer months on the lawn. Salmon river fishing, clay pigeon shooting and stalking can be arranged on the estate.

The house is perfectly positioned to explore and walk in the hills in the Glen Coe or Glen Etive area. Due to the geography of the region it is known as the “outdoor capital of the Highlands”, and it has become a huge hit for mountain bikers, climbers, canoeists and walkers. The estate can arrange for guided hill walking, kayaking excursions, photography tuition and photo safaris. Fort William and Oban have many shops and restaurants, as well as the Ben Nevis Distillery and for golfers there are a selection of local golf courses.

Stag and Hen bookings may not book this property, unless discussed in advance for approval. Neither the Owner nor the Agent will accept any liability should a booking be confirmed as a consequence of non-disclosure of the above which may later result in a booking cancellation by the Owner. For more information on this matter please speak to a member of our staff.

Salmon and Trout fishing on River Etive with Ghillie, RIB trips & loch fishing, clay pigeon shooting, accompanied low level hill walking and stalking, further information available on request.

Excellent accommodation and staff

We're so pleased you had an excellent trip! Should you ever wish to book with us again, don't forget to claim your loyalty discount next time!

Good service although the payment process was a bit laborious, having to make two separate payments when one transaction would have suited me better

Many thanks for your comments, we are currently working on updated our online payment process, but it may be helpful to know for the future, that we can process telephone payments in one transaction if that's easier.

Could not have been a nicer venue with great people taking care of us and the house. Iain and Alyson were GREAT CHEFS! We loved every single meal and all the tea time goodies. We enjoyed some trout fishing at the neighboring estate. Enjoyed a day of clay pigeon shooting with Charles at Crombie shooting. Overall was the best experience. We could not have asked for more.

Sounds like the holiday was all you hoped for, and its fab to hear you were so well looked after by Iain and Alyson. I’m sure the fishing and shooting made the whole experience just perfect!

Naomi and the whole staff at Scotts Castle were very helpful, kind, and prompt!

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, it was great to help with the plans for your trip to Scotland and we would be delighted to offer our loyalty discount on your next holiday with us!
