Description

The Property is a real delight of a holiday home just 3.5 miles from Hay on Wye.  Families and groups with love its seclusion and spectacular views. This holiday cottage has a large, enclosed garden and wildflower meadow. Inside it has beautiful and ecclectic decor, and is spacious and warm, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, an Aga and an open fire.

This stylish Welsh Longhouse is in a magnificent location looking out to Hay Bluff, the Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains National Park. The house is set on the edge of the National Trust moorland, the Begwyns with wonderful walks and cycles from the door. There's plenty to explore, with popular Hay-on-Wye 3.5 miles away.

The neighbouring villages of Painscastle and Clyro both have excellent pubs that serve good food. The Roast Ox in Painscastle is well worth a visit - do not be surprised if you find the car park full of tethered ponies as the neighbouring pony trekking stables often stop there. Down in the village of Clyro there is a garage with village shop and 14th century Drovers Inn, The Rhydspence.

In Hay-on-Wye (renown for Hay Literary Festival held in May) with the picturesque castle overlooking the town, you will be spoilt for choice with the great variety of second hand bookshops, antique shops, boutique style shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. There is a local butcher and greengrocer, delicatessen and a couple of small grocery shops - many selling organic local produce. Hay has an outdoor local produce market on a Thursday selling locally grown produce, homemade cakes, fruit juices, honey, jams, crafts and rugs and much, much more. When in Hay it is a "must" to try Shepherds Ice Cream made from the milk of sheep.   Hay-on-Wye of course is a haven for all types of visitors who enjoy outdoor activities, whether you are a keen walker or enjoy a ramble, want to fish, canoe, swim or just sit beside the River Wye. Go for a serious horse ride or just a pony trek, go gliding in nearby Talgarth or go for a scenic drive around the local villages and stop for lunch in a country pub or a cream tea. There are plenty of castle and abbeys to visit and I would recommend the drive through The Llantony Valley to Capel-y-Ffin to Llantony Abbey or over to Abbeydore. With Offa's Dyke Path, The Three Castle Walk, Mortimer Trail all very close to Hay-on-Wye and the Welsh Marches you are really spoilt for choice when staying here whatever time of the year.

Hay-on-Wye - 3.5 miles, Painscastle - 2 miles, Clyro - 2 miles, Brecon - 20 miles, Hereford - 25 miles, Builth Wells -15 miles, Abergavenny -25 miles
