Description

Whether it’s for a Christmas and New Year gathering, a special family celebration or a landmark birthday with close friends, this is the perfect place to stay, and with just a 15-minute short drive away from the M6, it’s very accessible too.

Set in attractive surrounding countryside, this detached property stands on a private elevated position, with the long sweeping gravel driveway that leads you to the magnificent, original oak front door. Step inside and an attractive hallway awaits you, with a beautiful tiled floor leading you to your very amiable accommodation.

The ground floor has endless original features from the Victorian period it was built, sash windows with wooden shutters, open fireplaces and high architrave ceilings, yet with modern comforts of underfloor heating, a Smart TV and an extensive fitted kitchen.

The grand, south-facing living room is the perfect place to relax, with large sumptuous sofas in front of a welcoming open fire. There is a further study and entertainment room which provides enough space for everyone, whilst the admirable dining room/conservatory has a comparable view to go with it. Adjacent to this room, is an adapted bedroom with a twin/double bed, wet room and accessibly designed for mature or less mobile guests.

You can enter from the wheelchair accessible nearby extra entrance. A large fitted kitchen has plenty of space to prepare that special family meal, with a Rangemaster double oven, dishwasher, wine cooler and separate utility room.

From the hallway, a wide staircase leads to the first floor bedrooms, all en-suite. The master bedroom enjoys rural views from dual aspect windows, the family bedroom, which has twin beds ideal for the children, has a staircase leading to a galleried sleeping area and a bathroom for the adults. The third and fourth bedrooms continue with the original features, including traditional clawfoot bath and separate dressing area.

From the landing, a further staircase leads to a fifth bedroom within the attic space, where the large picture Velux windows bring in the view. A dressing area leads from the bedroom area to the en-suite bathroom.

Outside, the enclosed grounds sit in 2 acres of lawn and woodland area. Surrounded by open pasture and grazing fields, you really do feel away from it all, yet just a few minutes’ drive away and you have Oxenholme station, on the main West Coast line.

A little further on is Kendal, the ’gateway to the Lakes’, where there is a thriving town centre of shops and restaurants, home the famous Kendal Mint Cake and the increasingly popular annual Mountain Festival.
Set between the Lake District National Park and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, you have so much to choose from. Beach 9¾ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 175 yards.This spacious property is great for families or groups of friends to get together, with a cosy open fire and 2-acre grounds to explore.
