Well Appointed Country House, near Torquay (LONGCRBC)

The Property is a Grade II listed, early Victorian villa in one of Torquay's most elegant residential suburbs, 'The Lincombes'. Situated in over an acre of stunning grounds, with uninterrupted sea views, the stately Villa Longcroft the ideal holiday retreat for groups and families of up to 12!

The landscaped grounds feature gentle gravel paths, manicured sea view vistas, and picnic-beckoning lawns. The villa itself is characterised by lavish architecture and seductive ambience, whilst it's sweeping gravel driveway provides ample parking.

Ground Floor
Once inside, guests will find themselves in an open-plan hallway finished with gorgeous wood flooring and a decadent staircase.

Floor to ceiling bay windows frame ocean views in the elegant drawing room and the entire house boasts high ceilings, character features and splendid fireplaces.

The brightly lit reception room is an ideal venue for morning coffees and afternoon teas, whilst an intimate informal sitting room begs for a roaring fire in its open hearth and a good film on the telly. The spacious dining room's s table is complemented by a stylish marble fireplace.

A picturesque country kitchen provides plenty of space for lazy breakfasts with pretty garden views. The range cooker and 12 place table makes entertaining an irresistible prospect, whilst the coastal aspect conservatory is the perfect recluse for a coffee. Alfresco meals on the sea view terrace are incredibly popular with guests in the summer months.

There is also a WC on the ground floor.

First Floor
The grand staircase leads to luxury sleeping arrangements for up to 12 guests. Beautifully presented rooms feature original marble fireplaces, romantic antique touches, in addition to en-suite bathrooms and flat-screen TVs in the main bedrooms.

The spacious accommodation comprises two king-size en-suite bedrooms, one double bedroom with a sink and WC toilet on the landing opposite, a twin bedroom with a shower room and a further bedroom furnished with four single beds ideal for children with an en-suite.

All are complemented by 3 bathrooms (2 with showers over the baths, 1 shower room en-suite, a WC on the first landing and another WC on the ground floor ensuring adequate facilities are available for all your guests.

The famous blue flag Meadfoot Beach, famously known as the childhood haunt of the writer Agatha Christie, is located directly below the villa. Here guests can enjoy sunbathing, swimming and also a relaxed meal or snack at the Osborne Hotel.

A fantastic range of local attractions will also ensure guests of all ages can fully enjoy their Devon getaway; with horse riding, mountain biking in the nearby National Parks , canoeing, bird watching, surfing, sailing, wind surfing, golf, local visitor attractions and relaxing Spa days to enjoy.

Security deposit: This property has a refundable Accidental Damage Deposit of £500, which is payable to Blueriver Cottages with the final balance of your holiday, eight weeks prior to your arrival, and is refunded within 5 working days of your departure. Alternatively, you may wish to pay a non-refundable Accidental Damage Deposit Waiver equivalent to 10% of the Accidental Damage Deposit value, which covers you for the full value of the Accidental Damage Deposit, should any damage occur during your stay.

From Tavistock and the rivers Tavy and Tamar to the English Riviera of Torbay, and the nautical town of Dartmouth north across Dartmoor (with its famous miniature ponies) to the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe, there can be few counties in England that offer such a broad spectrum of experiences to the visitor. 

Located in the South Westerly reaches of England, Devon shares a southerly border with Cornwall, and an easterly border with Somerset and Dorset. To the north and south the Bristol and English channels provide miles of beautiful coastline, and numerous attractions to the county. 

Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty (5), National Parks (2) and many other parks and reserves make it very easy to get off the beaten track, but the cities of Plymouth and Exeter are as modern and vibrant as they come.

Inland are a number of country landscapes to explore; Tarka Country to the north, taking its name from a famous novel, offering the Tarka Trail; a fantastic cycle route through the beautiful country landscapes. Centrally, Dartmoor National Park is the largest open space in South England, and offers miles of rugged and wild moorland for keen walkers to explore.

Dartmoor Zoological Park is situated on the edge of the moor. The zoo is the inspiration behind a Hollywood film, and home to an impressive range of exotic animals. Along the south coast is the spectacular Jurrasic Coast World Heritage Site, reaching from Exmouth along into Dorset, and offering a spectacular coastline to discover.

Further south along the coast is the borough of Torbay, home to some of Devon’s most popular seaside resorts and tourist spots, and known as the English Riviera. Devon’s county town is the attractive city of Exeter, offering a mix of historical and modern architecture and culture. To the south is the University City of Plymouth, a historic port, and home to The Hoe, a popular public open space offering a range of attractions.   

Devon is the third biggest county in the UK by area, but it's quite easy to get around. In population, it is only the twelfth largest, so it's really not very crowded! Geographically and in spirit quite unlike the neighbouring counties, Devon is characterised by the granite structure that forms Dartmoor rising out of its distinctive red soil, and the very different Devonian rock structure underlying Exmoor. The Devonian geological period was actually named after Devon since it was here that these rocks were first studied. 

South West

England’s peninsula incorporates the counties of Cornwall and Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol. This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
