Large Country House, near Paignton (CHERRYBC)

The Property in Paignton is the ideal escape to seaside luxury. This beautiful holiday home is within very short walking distance from Goodrington South Sands Beach, providing very comfortable accommodation for groups of up to 10 guests.

Interior ~ A beautiful modern kitchen lies at the heart of the home, complete with granite units and a centre island kitted out with padded leather breakfast seats. Buttermilk tiles and touches lift the room, which is fully equipped with a stainless steel oven, grill and hob, and looks out on to the stunning decked area - with a window perfect for passing food through!

A gorgeous exposed dark-beam doorway leads into the spacious living room and dining room, which is also naturally lit with sweeping windows. The living area continues the theme of sleek granite complemented by warm blues, and boasts leather sofas and a beckoning fireplace, along with an HDTV and large marbled granite dining table.

Five spacious bedrooms make up the sleeping accommodation. The master bedroom on the ground floor features a king-size bed, double glass doors, a television, walk-in wardrobe and mirrored dressing area, decorated with a plush ruby and cream finish.

The room boasts its own wet room style en-suite complete with a bath and separate shower. There is also a separate WC on the ground floor.

This leaves two ample and south-facing doubles on the first floor. Bedroom 2 is finished in mauves and creams, complete with a French-finish dressing table and wardrobe. Bedroom 3 is dressed in dainty country blues and whites with a metal frame bed, chest of drawers and wardrobe. There are twin beds in the 4th & a 5th bedroom with king-size bed.

The first floor features another bathroom, fitted with a bath and separate shower. There is also a small study or games room on the first floor; ideal for curling up with a book or journal on the beanbag or chair whilst enjoying the spectacular views, or guests can battle each other on the Xbox.

Exterior ~ In addition to private parking, a plush bar area and hot tub are situated to the rear of the property. This decked garden area enjoys superlative sunsets of the
South Devon sky, and the wooden-clad bar stylishly offsets the sleek black and steel garden loungers, sofa and BBQ, creating a luxurious summer soiree spot.

To the right of this relaxed area is a raised dining terrace, complete with a large table, chairs and parasol.

Even better, the high-spec timber hot tub is situated indoors and accessible via steps bedecked with exotic plants. Sliding glass doors open straight into the garden, giving guests the choice between soaking up the summer heat, or enjoying spectacular storms from a sheltered vista.

The many delights of the seaside village of Paignton are only a short walk away, or can be accessed by the frequent public transport that runs all through Torbay. The beach at Goodrington is a long sand and pebble beach, perfect for young and old, and is very popular in the summer months, with Quay West Water Park just behind this.

Paignton itself boasts a vibrant town centre with attractions for all the family, including play parks, crazy golf, a long Green ideal for picnics, as well as a number of restaurants, bars and takeaways, all of which contribute to the real seaside atmosphere of the town. A train station and plenty of bus stops also mean that it's easy to travel around to the surrounding area, which too boasts a wealth of activities and sights to see, including bike hire, paint balling, go-karting, boat trips, Paignton Zoo, Agatha Christie's house at Greenway, Living Coasts and the Steam Railway, meaning there's no end to what you can enjoy on your holiday to spectacular South Devon!

From Tavistock and the rivers Tavy and Tamar to the English Riviera of Torbay, and the nautical town of Dartmouth north across Dartmoor (with its famous miniature ponies) to the surfing beaches of Croyde and Woolacombe, there can be few counties in England that offer such a broad spectrum of experiences to the visitor.

Located in the South Westerly reaches of England, Devon shares a southerly border with Cornwall, and an easterly border with Somerset and Dorset. To the north and south the Bristol and English channels provide miles of beautiful coastline, and numerous attractions to the county.

Areas of Oustanding Natural Beauty (5), National Parks (2) and many other parks and reserves make it very easy to get off the beaten track, but the cities of Plymouth and Exeter are as modern and vibrant as they come.

Inland are a number of country landscapes to explore; Tarka Country to the north, taking its name from a famous novel, offering the Tarka Trail; a fantastic cycle route through the beautiful country landscapes. Centrally, Dartmoor National Park is the largest open space in South England, and offers miles of rugged and wild moorland for keen walkers to explore.

Dartmoor Zoological Park is situated on the edge of the moor. The zoo is the inspiration behind a Hollywood film, and home to an impressive range of exotic animals. Along the south coast is the spectacular Jurrasic Coast World Heritage Site, reaching from Exmouth along into Dorset, and offering a spectacular coastline to discover.

Further south along the coast is the borough of Torbay, home to some of Devon’s most popular seaside resorts and tourist spots, and known as the English Riviera. Devon’s county town is the attractive city of Exeter, offering a mix of historical and modern architecture and culture. To the south is the University City of Plymouth, a historic port, and home to The Hoe, a popular public open space offering a range of attractions.

Devon is the third biggest county in the UK by area, but it's quite easy to get around. In population, it is only the twelfth largest, so it's really not very crowded! Geographically and in spirit quite unlike the neighbouring counties, Devon is characterised by the granite structure that forms Dartmoor rising out of its distinctive red soil, and the very different Devonian rock structure underlying Exmoor. The Devonian geological period was actually named after Devon since it was here that these rocks were first studied.

South West

England’s peninsula incorporates the counties of Cornwall and Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset and Bristol. This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
