Cosy Holiday Home, Stow on the Wold

Donnington House is a secret hideaway, yet within minutes of some of the Cotswolds most delightful towns and attractions.
Set over three floors this fabulous four bedroom family home has been completely renovated during 2011 to make the very best of the large spaces and original features found in this unique property. The setting and architecture of Old Brewery House and the buildings that surround it are quintessentially Cotswolds and utterly idyllic. Its location is unique, being right in the heart of Donnington Brewery, whose buildings date back as far as the 12th Century. In 1827 it was bought by Thomas Arkell, whose descendant Richard Arkell started a Brewery here in 1865. It remains a working brewery today and although running full time, has very little impact on the house or its occupants. Donnington Brewery is not open to the public and access to the brewery buildings is understandably prohibited. Beer, however, is available, should you desire it and you'll find links to chocolate box pretty Cotswolds inns that are supplied by Donnington Brewery in Local Knowledge.

ACCOMMODATION

Entrance to lobby
Drawing Room with three large sofas, window seats with view to the lake, flat screen TV, DVD player, iDock & CD player. This room has a log burner. We will provide a basket of logs for your arrival together with some kindling and fire lighters. Downstairs WC and washbasin.
Snug Room with sofa bed which is ideally suited to one person or two small people together with a couple of additional sofas. Plus 43" plasma TV & DVD player.
Reading Room - quirky room ideal for peace and solace!!

Steps up to Kitchen - fully equipped kitchen with integrated larder fridge, integrated small fridge, small freezer, dishwasher, microwave and ample cupboards and drawers. Electric double Everhot range cooker, Dining table and 12 chairs.

Steps down to Utility Room The large utility room can be found on the lower ground floor. It is accessible from the staircase by the kitchen or from outside a perfect place to wash off muddy boots and children! It is an intriguing space that retains many original installations. This area also houses the heating systems, water tanks and softener units.

The utility room houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, chest freezer and Belfast sink. There is a drying room, complete with shelving and hooks for coats. There is a central heating radiator in here and a separate electric radiator for use when the central heating is off during the summer months.

Garden Room - Beautiful views to the garden.
Bedroom One with super king sized zip & link bed or two 3 ft singles, small vanity table, small sofa, window seat, built in wardrobe and shelving. Original fireplace (non-working). Tiled Ensuite Bathroom with shower, loo and basin. Shaver point. Radiator and separate heated towel rail.

Attic Room
Bedroom Four - Up a small staircase to a quirky attic room full of character with super king sized bed plus camp bed option, chest of drawers, hanging rail and storage cupboard. Large Ensuite bathroom with bath, loo and basin. Radiator and separate heated towel

Outside -
Private gardens include the old croquet lawn and river frontage. A croquet set can be found in the utility room. Pergola seating area by the river with tables and chairs. Please exercise extreme caution by the river. Car parking for at least 3-4 cars.

This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
