Comfortable Country House, near Fowey (P00634CO)

This lovely waterside house is in a south-facing position in Mixtow Pill which is about half a mile upstream from Bodinnick village, on the east bank of the River Fowey. Ideal for boating enthusiasts, the house has its own pontoon and many guests bring or hire a small boat at Fowey River Boat Hire during their holiday. The nearest place to eat is The Old Ferry Inn at Bodinnick, where you can also catch the ferry across to Fowey with its many independent shops, cafes and restaurants. The beautiful coves of Lantic and Lansallos Bays are around 2 miles away where there are some fabulous walks along the coast path with absolutely stunning scenery.

The Property is in a great location and has lovely views of the water from many rooms. It provides comfortable and relaxed accommodation for eight adults and four children. The living room has sliding doors out onto a wide, wrap-around balcony with extensive views down the river to Fowey. Several outdoor terraced areas give you options for al fresco dining and safe play areas for the children. Living by the water there is so much to watch you will just enjoy spending time gazing at the constant activities.

This property offers 25% discount for parties of 6 or less outside of peak weeks. This discount is applied automatically and the holiday price you are quoted reflects this.

LocationFowey

Perfect for coastal walks along the South of Cornwall, and within easy reach of many idyllic coves including Polkerris, Polridmouth beach and Readymoney Cove. There are larger sandy beaches at Par and Carlyon Bay, and there is a small 16th century fort St Catherine’s’ Castle at the entrance to Fowey harbour. Other local points of interest include the Gribbin head light and two 14th century blockhouses on either side of the estuary opening which were built to protect the village from unwanted ships.

A fantastic range of traditional pubs and bistros are available throughout the town, and a ferry operates crossings from Fowey to both Polruan and Boddinick. The harbour museum and Fowey Maritime Centre offer an insight into the ports history and there are many galleries to choose from. Beside the River Fowey is the 13th century keep of Restormel Castle, where there are fantastic views and a picnic area.

The town is a popular destination for sailing and kayaking, there are plenty of waterside activities available and boat hire which is ideal for a trip up the river. Just two miles from Fowey is Pont, surrounded by picturesque countryside and woodland walks.

This region is mostly rural so is perfect to escape the everyday hustle and bustle, whether relaxing with the family by the seaside or exploring the wild moors and rugged coastline. The area boasts hundreds of beautiful sandy bays to choose from and fantastic surfing opportunities. The historic cities of Exeter, Bath and Gloucester are definitely worth a visit, and with transport links all the way down to Penzance even the famous Lands End and remote Isles of Scilly can be reached.
