Comfortable Holiday Home, Windermere

Capturing the very essence of the Lake District this superb four bedroom, four bathroom property forms part of a large gentlemen's residence commanding superb views from the bedrooms towards the famous Langdale Pikes and with seasonal views over Lake Windermere itself.

Aptly found at the top of a gentle slope in a peaceful yet very handy setting close to Windermere village and only a few minutes stroll from the lake shore. A perfect setting for a holiday at any time of the year and the accommodation is cleverly designed taking full advantage of the breath-taking views. Each bedroom boasts a bathroom facility so never any queuing and the open plan living leads directly onto a delightful terrace equipped with furniture to enjoy al-fresco living - bliss.

Windermere is an absolutely delightful historic market town, home to numerous enticing caf?s, bars, restaurants and small independent shops as well as the excellent Booths supermarket. It is the spiritual heart of "The Lakes" and is surrounded by a timeless landscape of beautiful unspoilt countryside, ancient stone-built villages and is home to some of England's finest scenery including the largest fresh water lake. If you like the outdoors you cannot help but fall in love with this region. Come and see for yourself - you will not be disappointed.

Accommodation in detail

A private drive leads to Hill Top and two other properties with private parking for 2 right outside the rear of the property. A large entrance porch with plenty of space for walking gear and a cloakroom / 5th WC / hand basin. The living area is mostly open-plan and takes advantage of the cascading light through the large windows and with patio doors leading out onto the terrace. The lounge has relaxing deep cushioned furnishings and a large window seat in the bay window. The dining area is open to the kitchen, well equipped with all you may need and there is a separate and useful utility room.

Stairs lead to the first floor where there are three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom facility; one double with excellent views towards the Langdale Pikes and with seasonal views out over Lake Windermere, this bedroom has an en-suite power shower room. There are two twin bedded rooms, each having similar views to the double bedroom and one bedroom has an en-suite power shower room and the other with shower over a 'P' shaped bath. Stairs lead to the loft suite; this double bedroom has a separate living area with superb views and access to a glass balcony. This suite has an en-suite power shower room. Outside there is a delightful slate terrace with furniture, perfect for al-fresco living on sunny days.

Location

This unique Windermere self-catering property offers easy access to the lake shore, but also to the popular villages of Windermere and Bowness.

Windermere village centre is the closest place for stocking up the kitchen; there you'll find a large Booths supermarket well stocked with the best local produce as well as everyday essentials. Windermere high street has a traditional butcher and several cafes and pubs, serving real Lakeland ale.

Bowness village is a busier tourist destination, just a couple of miles from. The village revolves around the boating activity of Bowness Bay, where hire boats come and go and Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside - explore without a car! Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness village.

You'll also enjoy easy access by car or bus to other popular Lake District holiday destinations, such as Hawkshead (via the car ferry across Lake Windermere from Bowness), the Troutbeck Valley, Ullswater, Ambleside and Grasmere. Less than 5 mins stroll will bring you to a great pub serving delicious meals at Troutbeck Bridge.

LocationCumbria & The Lake District

The rural county of Cumbria is one of the most attractive in England. It contains the whole of the area known as the Lake District, as well as the northern part of the Pennines mountain range and, somewhat counter-intuitively, a part of the Yorkshire Dales.

The county is replete with attractions for the visitor, its historic heritage ranging from houses and gardens to stone circles and activities ranging from walking and climbing to watersports and fishing. Cumbria's lakes, valleys and fells can loosely be broken down into eight areas.

The North Lakes are the most popular with the serious outdoor enthusiast and the South Lakes draw most of the holidaymakers. The Western Lakes are less busy but still hold some varied attractions and appeal to the walkers as well as families and groups. They are home to England's tallest mountain, known as Scafell Pike.

East Lakes has its quota of mountains too, including the well-known Helvellyn, and is a fairly quiet area. Visit the Eden Valley and North Pennine area for wilderness, castles and rural villages, or perhaps consider North and South Cumbria. In the former we find Hadrian's Wall and the city of Carlisle. In the latter, coastal resorts and the biggest town, Kendal. Finally, the edge of the Yorkshire Dales is a beautiful part of Cumbria with country pubs, easy walking, and a thriving arts scene.
