Outstanding Barn Conversion, near Sternfield (SFRHBSS)

Stunning barn conversion comprising three separate properties but with large communal dining room and games room to accommodate all ten guests. Individual hot tubs for each property, indoor and outdoor games and a large movie screen means that you will have a wonderful stay whatever the weather.

Big House Holiday Style: Three superbly converted adjoining barn conversions, all with their own hot tub -Reindeer Cottage, Christmas Cottage and Stable Cottage - making full use of the beautiful beams and studwork of the original buildings. The Property makes for an ideal retreat for a large family or friends get-together... a perfect place to get away from it all.

Grounds: Set amidst farmland close to the Suffolk coast, The Property are centred around a large communal lawn, perfect for spending lazy summer days in the sun. French doors lead from each sitting room to a sunny terrace area with tables and chairs and your own individual hot tub.

Everything is laid on for you. There is a large games room with table tennis, table football and a large screen TV where all 10 of you can watch a movie together. There is a large dining table and chairs, great for Christmas lunch. Beyond the games room is a further grassed area with trampoline and loads of space for ball games and barbecues. Holidaymakers are more than welcome to pitch a tent in the grounds.

Set at the end of a farm track, the barns are ideally situated for families with kids - there are no main roads for a long way!

This Big House is ideal for: Families and friends who are looking for a peaceful base close to the Suffolk Coast. Those looking to explore the area by bike (there is a bike storage area by the games room) or on foot. The Property are perfectly situated in the heart of the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's an easy ten minute drive to the pretty seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness so beach-lovers will be in their element.

Big House minimum hire Three nights; except in high season when it is a week. Changeover is usually a Friday.

Also No smoking. Pets restricted to Reindeer and Christmas Cottages only

Self catering eating and drinking: Grocery deliveries are available and there is a great selection of catering options for your stay at The Property.

There are many farm shops scattered across the Suffolk countryside, but the closest to The Property are: Railway Farm Shop in Benhall, and Friday Street Farm Shop, Farnham. Both stock a mouth-watering selection of locally grown fresh fruit and vegetables, along with tempting fresh cakes, breads, cheeses and free-range meats. And of course with Aldeburgh so close, you won't be able to resist the tempting award-winning fish and chips... eat them straight from the paper whilst watching the waves on Aldeburgh beach. You may put on a few pounds this holiday!

Eating and drinking out:
The Golden Key, Snape - Using their own chickens, herbs, honey, rare-breed pigs, sheep, and locally shot game, The Golden Key is a fantastic place to enjoy an evening meal, or a simple lunchtime snack.

The Crown Inn, Snape - Another great pub that uses its own home-reared produce including quails, geese, chickens, ducks, turkeys, lamb, and rare breed pigs. All their fish is bought directly from Orford fishermen. A fantastic menu.

White Lion, Aldeburgh - The White Lion Hotel enjoys fantastic views of the sea, and is a great place to enjoy a good meal. The menus are fresh and inspired, using produce sourced from the land and sea close to Aldeburgh. Fish and seafood are both specialities, as well as traditional favourites such as braised oxtail or devilled lambs kidneys.

The Brudenell, Aldeburgh - With its relaxed, informal dining room and patio heaters which allow you to eat al fresco after the sun has set, The Brudenell Hotel is a great place for a special holiday meal.

Please note some rural pubs have closed down with little to no notice. While we aim to update our information frequently, if this is part of your criterion please do check the status of the pubs before booking.

Family Holidays: All hardware such as highchairs and travelcots are supplied at The Property for your use. The large lawn is perfect for kids to stomp about on, and let's not forget the games room... you'll hardly see the kids this holiday!

Entertainment: All three properties include TV, CD player, DVD player and wifi access.

The somewhat curious county of Suffolk forms a part of the region known as East Anglia. Its eastern edge is bounded by the North Sea, with neighbouring Norfolk to the north and Essex to the south. The county of Cambridgeshire lies to the west. It has no cities and no motorways, but it does have many gardens and ruins and history in spades, from the Magna Carta to the Saxon relics of Sutton Hoo.

Unusual (for Britain) timber-framed buildings, dating back to the 16th century, vie with Tudor mansions in the attractive streets of market towns. In common with Norfolk, it is a fairly flat county, with much of its area devoted to farming and other rural pursuits. Its coastal geology of sand and clay, combined with the longshore drift current of the sea, means that the land is eroding constantly. Sea defences protect many of the towns but, equally, a good deal of property has been lost as the cliffs are worn away, and more is threatened.

Suffolk is famous throughout the UK for its distinctive dialect, horse racing (the town of Newmarket is the epicentre of British racing) and the arts. Festivals and other shows are common, and fish and chips and Adnam's ale are the order of the day.

East of England

This region includes the ceremonial counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. With a rich heritage there is much to see and do to suit all ages. The royal residency of Sandringham Estate is a must see and other historical points of interest include Castle Rising, Sutton Hoo and Somerleyton Hall. The medieval cities of Cambridge, Norwich and Ipswich are not to be missed and there are lots of pretty market towns and idyllic seaside resorts to choose from for a day trip. Alternatively for a slower paced holiday you may wish to visit The Broads or Thetford Forest, these areas are particularly popular for boating and spotting birdlife.
