Description

Perfectly positioned on the outskirts of Peebles and in the heart of the beautiful 19th century Kailzie Gardens, Coachman’s Cottage is a charming stone cottage offering six guests a homely setting during a Scottish adventure. Renovated from former stables, Coachman’s Cottage is an enchanting retreat, carefully decorated with a traditional style and equipped with all you need on a self-catered stay. Upon arrival, discover the wonderful lounge where a collection of pastel colours arm chairs await you, scattered around the woodburning stove to keep you warm, with characterful furnishings and a dining table situated in the corner, it’s a truly welcoming setting. The cute country kitchen is home to an electric oven and hob along with several more appliances both in here and in the utility room, so you can rustle up some tasty home-cooked dishes for your loved ones to enjoy. Perfect for older guests or those with limited mobility is the charming ground-floor twin bedroom, furnished with a pretty dressing table and bedside lamps along with a feature fireplace, and served by the ground-floor bathroom and a cloakroom. Follow the steep cottage stairs up to the first floor to find two further twin bedrooms, each with their own unique take on tradition, with delightful prints and a quaint elegance throughout. On clear, sunny days spend time out in the lovely south-facing garden, relaxing under the sun at the outdoor furniture, with your canine companions at your side. Although positioned right in the centre of Kailzie Gardens, Coachman’s Cottage still feels secluded, whilst benefitting from full access to the beautiful gardens along with the walks around the estate, 18-hole putting greens, and trout fishing during the spring and summer months on the River Tweed. Pop into the courtyard café situated behind the cottage for a morning treat, or choose to venture out into Peedbles to find the lovely selection of cafés, restaurants and pubs with something for every occasion. The heart of the town lies in the main high street found on a spur of land between the River Tweed and Eddleston Water, home to an array of fine shops, the Tweeddale Museum and Gallery, John Buchan Story Museum and the Eastgate Theatre. Enjoy a morning walk over to the ruins of Horsburgh Castle, or for a more energetic ramble head into the beautiful Glentress Forest for idyllic woodland scenery, with more fun to be found at Glentress Mountain Bike Trail Centre and Go Ape Glentress. Hire bikes here or store your own in the bike storage at Coachman’s Cottage, with the surrounding area being brilliant for cycling and mountain biking. Visit the bustling town of Galashiels and the incredible baronial mansion of Abbotsford, The Home of Sir Walter Scott, a Scottish novelist, playwright and poet, with extensive grounds to explore and grand rooms to marvel at, it makes a great day out! Delight in a wonderful stay at The Property with your loved ones in Peebles. EPC Rating: Band F
