Stranraer is known as a busy ferry port serving Scotland to Northern Ireland. The town is a busy place with lots of restaurants, hotels, pubs, local shops and supermarkets. There is also a museum and a castle in the centre of the town. For the more active there is walking in the Southern Upland Way and the dark skies in Galloway Forest Park make this area excellent for studying the night sky.
