The area of Southern Scotland is rich in landscape, culture, heritage and activities for all the family. Golf can be found on a large number of courses, and fishing is always popular, particularly on the river Tweed. There are also a number of mountain biking trails through the various forests and glens in this region. The four Borders Abbeys are worth a mini tour, each with its own historical story to tell.
Stretching across the border with England, and reaching up to the central belt from Glasgow to Edinburgh, the Southern Scotland region is a popular location for short break holidays. Although you may not find the monumental mountain ranges of the Highlands, don’t think that this region lacks the traditional Scottish landscapes.
