The town centre is home to the splendid remains of Elgin Cathedral, and neaby is the medieval Spynie Palace, the ruins of the former residence of the Bishops of Moray. Both historic sites are open to visitors to explore. The area is known as Whisky Region, and Elgin\'s Glen Moray Distillery offer tours and tasting!

Found a few miles inland of the Moray Firth in Moray and straddling the River Lossie, Elgin is a pleasant Scottish town. The centre offers a range of shops and restaurants and some interesting historic sites of interest, including Elgin Museum, one of the oldest museums in Scotland, brimming with artefacts from Moray and around the world, and the magnificent medieval ruins of Elgin Cathedral.  Situated in the heart of the whisky region, the town is home to a number of distilleries, and Glen Moray is open to the public for tours and tasting. Nearby is Spynie Palace, the residence of the Bishops of Moray from the 14th to the 17th Century. Parts of the ruins are open for visitors to explore. A few miles north to the coast is Spey Bay; the richly vegetated estuary provides some beautiful scenery, wildlife, and walks to enjoy. The town is also home to the Elgin Kart Raceway, a fantastic high octane entertainment for the kids to enjoy!
