Located in the council area of Stirling but positioned in the county of Perthshire, Callander is a small town that sees itself as the “Gateway to the Highlands”. This is a part of Scotland that is popular with the activity minded, with great walking available particularly in the “Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park”. Nearby Ben Ledi stands at 879 metres high and is good challenge for all walkers and is classified as a “Corbett”. No longer served by a railway (the nearest is 11 miles away at Dunblane), some of the old railway lines have become the Rob Roy Way and route 7 of the National Cycle Network. The town itself has many local shops, pubs and hotels, as well as a Tesco supermarket. The river Teith runs by and is well known for salmon fishing. For golfers Callander has a very picturesque 18-hole parkland course with fine views towards Ben Ledi.
