The small village of Cornhill on Tweed sits on the river Tweed in England. The surrounding area is a beautiful mix of rolling fields and the stunning Cheviot Hills, making the village a perfect spot for getting away from it all! As with all the settlements in this area of the country, the village has a rich and turbulent history, thanks to its proximity with Scotland, during the Independence War. The nearby Flodden Battlefield pays tribute to this. Not far away is the English Trust’s Etal Castle ruins, and a bit further to the east, the ruins of Norham Castle, both strongholds during the raging wars. There are a small number of eateries within a few miles of the village, if you wanted to dine out during your holiday, and if you have youngsters to entertain, you may like to pay a visit to the Heatherslaw Ligh Railway, a steam trainline that runs to Etal Castle.
