Cosy Big Cottage, Pembroke Dock

Baradwys Coastal Retreat is a large detached property with panoramic views of the golf course and the magnificent Cleddau Estuary from almost every window. Baradwys is a Welsh word meaning Paradise and the property is enchanting at any time of year with extensive, landscaped and secluded gardens of almost an acre. There is central heating, FREE wi-fi throughout and a land line with FREE evening and weekend calls. Nestling in the South Pembrokeshire village of Llanreath, Baradwys is just a 3 minute walk (going down the road) from the local beach which is pebbly and rocky but lovely for exploring, playing, paddling and picnicking. It is a 7 minute walk back to Baradwys from the Beach following the Coastal path and skirting the Golf Course.

This house has two comfortable sitting rooms, both with panoramic views, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor, the latter having a 50" TV with full SKY package (Including all sports & all movie channels, kids TV, interactive games, boxed sets, catch up TV and pause live TV). The second sitting room has a TV with internet access and FREESAT plus a DVD player this room extends into the dining area with large table seating up to 10. This in turn leads to the sunny, bright conservatory with stunning views of the estuary and over the fabulous terraced gardens. There is a hi-fi system in the conservatory with a selection of cd's, plus a bookcase with books and games. There is a large family table and 10 chairs directly outside the conservatory, an excellent place to sit and relax with a glass of wine after a day on the beach with the kids! There are sun loungers available from the garage.
Baradwys has a large kitchen with two fridges, two freezers (one with water and ice dispenser), a range type gas cooker with two ovens and a grill and griddle, a dishwasher, microwave, TV and a breakfast table seating 6. Plus the added advantage of a utility room with washer drier. There is a ground floor bedroom with a super king sized bed, ensuite shower room and sea views.
There is a separate toilet at the bottom of the stairs. In the hallway there is a 'kid's zone' with small sofa, TV and games - an ideal retreat for the older kids to chill out. Upstairs there are 4 further bedrooms, one with king sized bed, ensuite and sea views, a second double with sea views and two single bedded rooms, both with lovely views, one with whb and one with a pull out 2'6" single 'Guest Bed', making this a twin room if required. Additionally, there is a cot for a baby plus a 'put-u-up' fold out bed suitable for a child. There is also a family bathroom with an electric shower over the bath and a bidet. The hallway leading to 3 of the bedrooms has a large bookcase full of books and games for all ages. Utilities included.

The grounds to this property are extensive with terraces, an ornamental fish pond (be careful with small children), Bantaba, (a covered, open arched building for use in hot or inclement weather), outdoor tables and seating with a brick built BBQ and lots of places for the kids to explore. There is a games enclosure with 2 sheds housing tables and chairs, games and outdoor play equipment. There is driveway parking for 3/4 cars. There are some wonderful walks right from the house, simply walk to the bottom of the garden, through the gate, over the stream, up the bank and follow the footpath to the right. This is a marked 'woodland and coastal walk' which circumnavigates the edge of the golf course and follows the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

There are also many stunning beaches to choose from in this area all just a short drive away. Try Barafundle and West Angle Bay and of course Freshwater West, popular with surfers and the setting for the blockbuster films, Harry Potter and Robin Hood. The towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot are just 20 minutes away by car and both have beautiful sandy beaches. Take to the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path to really marvel at the beautiful coastline, with access directly from the Baradwys gardens. Baradwys is not far from the town of Pembroke which is steeped in history and has a beautiful medieval castle, open to visitors. The area also has an abundant supply of activities for all the family to enjoy including Folly Farm, Anna's Welsh Zoo, Heatherton and Oakwood theme park.

LocationPembrokeshire

Located in the far west of Wales, the county of Pembrokeshire is renowned for its superb coastline, attracting swimmers and beach goers with its idyllic stretches of beautiful sand, and walkers and nature enthusiasts to its miles of coastal paths and the Coast National Park with its abundance of wildlife. Inland the landscapes are practically tailored for outdoor adventurers, with the Preseli Hills offering wild moorland and heaths, and ‘The Golden Road’, a walk running across the spine of the county.

There are plenty of sites of historic interest from the prehistoric Pentre Ifan Burial Chamber, to the magnificent Norman Carew Castle and Tidal Mill, sitting on the mill pond which powers the mill. Other sites include Pembroke Castle, an enormous oval fort, and the unique St Govan Chapel, built into the cliff. Other activities to entertain the family include the Oakwood Theme Park which is home to the fabulous Megafobia Rollercoaster, and the Manor House Wildlife Park; an up-close-and-personal zoo experience! There are a vast number of lovely places to visit in Pembrokeshire; Newport (not the city!) is a picturesque village on the coast, and is a desirable holiday spot. Then there is the larger and bustling Victorian seaside town of Tenby, or St Davids, one of the smallest cities in the UK!

South Wales

Although smaller in size than other regions of Wales, this area still has a great selection of historical sites to visit and rolling countryside with a dramatic coastline. Perhaps best known for the impressive Brecon Beacons, this mountain range is very popular for those seeking an activity holiday with something to suit all, from mountain biking and caving to horse riding and star gazing events. The Vale of Glamorgan is worth a visit, with a 9 mile heritage coastal path not to mention the famous Barry Island with its vibrant amusement park which is all only a few miles from Cardiff.

Not just an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Wye Valley and the Vale of Usk combined can also boast having the most castles per square mile in Britain. In recognition of its revolutionary importance the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape is now a World Heritage Site and has a fascinating collection of ironworks, mines and a national museum.

Cardiff is perfect for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. The varied choice of entertainment ranges from live music venues, guided tours and art events. For a peaceful walk or nature spotting trip then the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal is a beautiful and isolated place to unwind.
