Charming Big Cottage, near Gower (413HH)

A practical family home in the heart of Gower that sleeps 8 in four bedrooms, has sweeping countryside views and is within a short drive of three of the peninsula's award-winning beaches - Port Eynon, Rhossili and Oxwich, to name just a few.

Spacious and dog-friendly, a range cooker, Welsh dresser and wood burning stove give The Property, which means Strawberry Place in Welsh, a cosy country feel.

There's plenty of parking as well as outdoor space with play houses, slides and swings that are sure to keep children happy. More fun can be had in the neighbouring village of Scurlage which lists a shop, hairdresser, soft play area, fish and chip shop and pub as well as an indoor swimming pool among its family-friendly facilities.

Accommodation
Enter from the driveway into a spacious porch then hallway that are both practical spaces in which to store shoes and other outdoor items. The hall has a solid wooden floor and a leads to a spacious lounge complete with a hand painted Welsh dresser, two roomy sofas, a wood burning stove and large plasma screen with DVD player, radio and CD.

Linking the lounge to the kitchen is a raised dining area with rustic dining furniture and views of the garden. It leads into the galley kitchen which has a delightful country feel with its solid wood cupboards and work tops, butlers sink and range cooker as well as a large fridge/freezer and dishwasher.

There's also a utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, microwave, ironing board and iron doubling as a great storage space for surfboards and bikes. Alongside is a separate WC and wash hand basin.

All of the bedrooms, four in total, are upstairs, light and bright and with fabulous rural views. The double aspect master bedroom has a super-king size bed and is a particularly spacious room with two double wardrobes and chests of drawers.

There's a quaint double bedroom with a double wooden bedstead, bedside tables and large chest of drawers. The two remaining rooms have a cottage feel where one has twin wooden beds and chests of drawers and the other is a triple bunkroom.

The fully tiled family bathroom is modern and spacious with a separate shower enclosure, bath, WC and wash hand basin.

External: Parking for 4 large cars on the drive. A fully enclosed garden to the front with play house, slide, swings and monkey bars plus rustic picnic bench. There is also a large enclosed garden to the rear with which is very safe and secure for young children along.

*Please note - There is a fully secure pen with chickens in the back garden. These will be tended to discreetly by the owner every other day. Guests are free to collect the eggs for their own use.

LocationSwansea

Set on the waterfront, this city is a great base to explore the South West of Wales and take in the culture of numerous museums and the many parks and gardens to choose from. There are a range of fun activities to choose from such as wind surfing and kite surfing, local beaches along the Gower Peninsula include Caswell Bay, Llangennith Beach and Oxwich Bay. The Clyne botanical gardens are perfect for a peaceful walk, Plantasia is also worth a visit, this rainforest in the heart of the city is home to a huge variety of tropical plants, parrots, monkeys and reptiles.

The Swansea Museum is the oldest in Wales, its exhibitions focus on the industrial and maritime history of the city. Also in the Maritime Quarter is the National Waterfront Museum. There is free admission to the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, a fun and interesting day out for all ages with many of the items collected by Sir Henry Wellcome. The Glynn Vivian Art Gallery has a diverse collection of photography and art from local artists.

Swansea has a large leisure complex with an indoor waterpark, surf machine, gym plus many more sport and play activities. Local public gardens and parks include Singleton Park, Cwmdonkin, Brynmill and Penllergare Valley Woods. Slightly further afield is the Carmel Nature Reserve. Mumbles is a great day trip, a pretty seaside town with Victorian pier and lighthouse. Oystermouth Castle is open seasonally and visitors can walk along the ancient ramparts which have amazing sea views across Swansea Bay.

South Wales

Although smaller in size than other regions of Wales, this area still has a great selection of historical sites to visit and rolling countryside with a dramatic coastline. Perhaps best known for the impressive Brecon Beacons, this mountain range is very popular for those seeking an activity holiday with something to suit all, from mountain biking and caving to horse riding and star gazing events. The Vale of Glamorgan is worth a visit, with a 9 mile heritage coastal path not to mention the famous Barry Island with its vibrant amusement park which is all only a few miles from Cardiff.

Not just an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Wye Valley and the Vale of Usk combined can also boast having the most castles per square mile in Britain. In recognition of its revolutionary importance the Blaenavon Industrial Landscape is now a World Heritage Site and has a fascinating collection of ironworks, mines and a national museum.

Cardiff is perfect for a day of shopping and sight-seeing. The varied choice of entertainment ranges from live music venues, guided tours and art events. For a peaceful walk or nature spotting trip then the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal is a beautiful and isolated place to unwind.
