Ysgubor Degwm, Pwllheli

Ysgubor Degwm is a detached barn conversion, full of character and wonderful original features, in a secluded location between Criccieth (6.5 miles) and Pwllheli (4.5 miles) just outside the Snowdonia National Park and on the edge of the Lleyn Peninsula. Criccieth is famous for its castle, long, sandy beach and Cadwaladr's Ice Cream, whilst Pwllheli is the ideal location for watersports. The house is in a stunning location, with distant sea glimpses across the extensive gardens, which include a tennis court and covered, heated swimming pool (some restrictions apply off-season).

The house comprises a large main section, with bedrooms in East and West wings, and a Master Suite with separate facilities at the far end of the property, with external access on the ground floor and interconnecting internal door on the first floor. The spacious living room has a high-vaulted, timber-framed ceiling, comfortable seating round a woodburning stove, flatscreen Freeview TV, DVD player, WiFi, and a large dining table and chairs. The adjacent kitchen also includes a breakfast table and chairs, electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is a separate utility/cloakroom with washing machine, WC and basin, and a ground floor shower room. On the first floor on this side of the house are a super king size bedroom, a twin room and a shower room. The interconnecting door from the landing leads through to the first floor Master Suite double bedroom with en suite shower room. A spiral staircase leads down to a good-sized second sitting room with comfortable seating, woodburning stove, Freeview TV and DVD player, dining table and four chairs, and a kitchenette with electric cooker, fridge and microwave. At the far end of the main living room is a hallway, ground floor bath/shower room and staircase to two further bedrooms on the first floor, one with a super king size bed and the other with full sized bunk beds. Ysgubor Degwm sits in extensive, landscaped grounds with glimpses of the sea. There is a large patio area with plenty of garden furniture, a pizza oven and Mongolian hotplate for outdoor catering. There is a tennis court at the bottom of the garden, and other garden games also available. The heated swimming pool is enclosed, with a retractable roof. The swimming pool is included from April to October. From the end of October to the end of March, it is available by arrangement in advance (but not at short notice), at an extra cost of £100/week to cover heating charges.

The facilities on site at this property are so wonderful, you will probably just want to sit back, relax and enjoy! If you do want to venture further afield, a wonderful range of activities, attractions and places of interest in Snowdonia, Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula are within easy reach.

LocationNorth Wales

North Wales showcases some of the UK's most varied landscape, from the snow-capped mountains of Snowdonia to the beaches of the Llyn Peninsula. Indeed, it is one of the only parts of Britain where you can be in the mountains in the morning and at the seaside by the afternoon. The diverse animal life of the region reflects this, with everything from otters to ospreys and seals to dolphins.

Not many places are imbued with such history and heritage, which is reflected throughout the region from cottages to castles! Attractions abound, with zoos and farms, steam railways and activity centres. There are regular events from international cultural festivals and shows to family fun days.

The area also offers a huge range of outdoor activities; walking, cycling, fishing, golf and water-sports to name only a few. In many parts of North Wales the spoken language is Welsh, not English, although people who cannot or will not speak the latter are rare, and signposts and other notices always display their message in both languages.
